Second owner’s name in ink ‘Philip Burton’ on half-title verso (with date of “May 8th, 1943”). We believe this to be Philip Henry Burton (1904-1995), radio producer and theater director, best known as the legal guardian/acting instructor to Richard Burton. Textblock edges deckled.

Small 8vo. 106pp. Brown, finely ribbed publishers cloth over tan leather spine, rippled by a large circular water mark. “Fleming’s Lessons on the Globes” in gilt on front cover; on spine only six lines of gilt. Front endpaper appears excised. Some spotting to a few pages, otherwise unmarked and tight.

ca 1905. Softcover . Used - near very good. Lg 8vo; This issue of the art journal contains the article on the illustrator of Edgar Allan Poe, A. Martini (pp 105-136), as well as those on F. Brangwyn, etc. Each page with at least one black-and-white illustration, including 3 tipped-in plates in black and white on black card covers with tissue guards. Page edges with faint creasing, presumably from someone thumbing through the journal. The last third of the volume (not affecting the Poe and Brangwyn illustrators) with a faint crease mark the length of the volume. Decorative cloth covers with linen spine, lightly rubbed with short tears and minor stains to extremities.
