Description:
RARE. Approx. 60 p. (unnumbered). Ex-library (the now-defunct Junto Local 91 Radical Library of Winnipeg) with stamps and stickers and a number in pen to front cover. Covers show significant wear, including creases, tears, and rubbing, as well as significant dampstains which bleed into some pages without impact on the readability of the text. The staples are rusting. Comprised entirely of handwritten text in an aesthetically pleasing and amazingly regular all-caps, this issue of the punk zine Cometbus features 23 chapters. Cometbus zines had extremely limited print runs.

First Edition. [17], 322, [3] p.; ill. (colour), 8 plates. Red cloth hardcover, smyth-sewn binding, with gilt lettering to cover and spine, spine exhibits sunning and slight bumping, front cover is slightly bowed, and the covers have minor edgewear, previous owner's name in pen to ffep, cracked but holding at half-title (see photos) and pg. 16, and the foredge and bottom of the textblock are deckle edged and aged, with the expected amount of wear and tear, but the book is otherwise internally clean, clear, and tightly bound. Some pages are still uncut, so it has never been read through. All 8 tipped-in colour plates are present. Please see listing images for preview and more details, and do not hesitate to contact us should you require further photographs to make a decision. It is unclear what genre this book falls under and there is no information to be found online. Through browsing the text, it seems to be something like a romantic memoir, but it may be fictional drama, a little bit of mystery, with…

The gruesome murders on August 9, 1969, of Sharon Tate, her unborn child, and four others at the hands of the notorious "Manson family" rocked the nation. From the back cover:
Directly ahead of us a wall of rock and mud blocked half the road. Where the other half should have been was nothing—black, yawning nothing... After their car plunges down a steep cliff into Suicide Gulch, five students try to survive in the bleak British Columbia mountains until one of them can climb back up the cliff to get help. For shy Karen the days in the bush seem like years. Shelley, Karen's "big sister" friend, is badly injured and needs help herself. Stanley can't seem to knock off his clown act, even in an emergency. And Dave doesn't seem to notice that Karen's around. Then there's Ward, who looks as if he could be triggered into one of his black rages by anything at all. Suddenly it's Karen who has to handle everybody else's problems ... but who is there to care about her?

From the security headquarters in Spain to the prison cells of Iran, from secret police centres in Chile to the psychiatric hospitals in the Soviet Union, this report confronts allegations of torture and ill-treatment of prisoners in more than 90 countries. It presents detailed evidence drawn from the impartial research of Amnesty International, the independent human rights movement that works for the release of all prisoners of conscience, fair trials for political prisoners and an end to torture and executions. FIRST THREADFALL!
Sorka glanced over her shoulder, and terror lent strength to her arms as she urged the mare to greater efforts. They were nearly to the ledge, nearly to what little safety it offered from the hissing silver fall that splatted so ominously across the woods they had only just left. Sean forced Cricket under the ledge. Suddenly both horses ceased resisting their riders and began to press Sean and Sorka against the inner wall, whinnying in abject terror. Peering around the frightened horses' heads, Sean and Sorka could actually see the long, thin threads plunging into the water. On the shoreline, the thick clumps of tough bushes they had ridden through only moments before were no longer visible, covered by a writhing mass of "things" that seemed to enlarge as they watched.… Read More
