London: Methuen, 1929. 153 pp, 7 11/16" H, purple/red boards with gilt lettering/banding on spine, gilt decoration on front cover. 20 full page b&w drawings by E.H. Shepard, known for his Winnie-the-Pooh illustrations. A humorous look at life in the British Army as everything from dogs, cats, lambs and cows to monkeys, parrots and an elephant undermine regulations and authority. Light browning in the margins of the pages and on the endpapers, a slight separation between several page gatherings but pages are holding firmly in the binding, a small label from a bookstore on the rear pastedown, a slight lean to the spine, very small bump at the top corner of the boards, light browning to the fore-edge and the bottom of the text block, colour has faded on the spine and at the top of the of the rear board, patches of light colour variation on the rear board, light wrinkling at the top/bottom of the spine, light edge wear. .
