The first edition was released simultaneously by different publishers in New York (Charles Scribner's Sons) and the London (Hodder & Stoughton).Condition. The book itself is stunning in every way. The jacket, notoriously fragile and equally as scarce, ranks among the finest a collector might find. This gray and gold jacket precedes the second issue, which featured a green design on a white background. The American and British publishers quickly switched over to the green and white design as the first issue jacket was prone to extreme fading.
