Manchester, Chetham Society, 1879-1888, two volumes, small 4to. Excellent condition in the original cloth. Part 1 covers Salford Hundred and Part 2 West Derby, Blackburn and Leyland Hundreds. Chetham Society, First Series, Vols 107 and 113.

T. J. Day, Manchester, 1878, pp. 60. The de luxe edition bound in limp leather and the pages interleaved with blank leaves. Very slight rubbing at spine ends, else very nice, bright condition. Illustration of a rush-cart pasted inside back cover.

Manchester, J. E. Cornish, 1881 to 1885. Originally issued in monthly parts.Complete set of four volumes. A fifth volume was started but only the first issue appeared dated May 1885 and this is here bound in the back of volume four. The title continues " for the Intercommunication of Antiquaries, Bibliophiles, and other Investigators into the History and Literature of the counties of Lancaster, Chester etc. " A mine of out of the way information. Old half leather bindings, rubbed, but sound except that the front cover of volume four has cracked at the spine and is strengthened internally with a strip of paper. A thoroughlyl useable set. One important feature is the detailed description of the various sets of early 19th century views of Manchester.

Danish Railway Museum, 2004. Lanscape format, card covers, 95 pages, profusely illustrated. Light corner wear, but very good, clean condition and apparently very scarce.

Simpkin, Marshall, 1884 pp. xviii, 170, with 11 illustrations. Original cloth, just very slightly rubbed, but good, clean condition.. With a useful bibliography of works by ministers of the chapel.

Ingram, Cooke, London, 1853, pp. 200, illustrated. Original cloth, rubbed and dull, but sound. Marginal tear to frontispiece, early name and address written across title page ( Blas Rangel, a recorded Victorian photographer), lightly used, stitching a little weak, but a reasonable copy. Two of Rangel's portraits are in the National Portrait Gallery.

London, Duckworth, 1928, pp. 24, with three portraits by Albert Rutherston. Original patterned paper bords, spine darkened, covers a little dusty, but a good, sound copy. Postage will be less than the standard rate.

London and Manchester,1864, revised and enlarged edition,pp.viii,248,portrait frontis. Original cloth in very good condition. Title page for some reason slightly shorter than the rest of the pages, one section proud, but contents tight and sound. Contains over fifty more poems than the previous edition of 1843.

London, Simpkin,Marshall and Co, 1844. Two volumes, pp. 288, 282. The first edition with a London imprint (though actually printed in Heywood and Manchester). First issued in parts between 1839 and 1840, then in volume form in 1842. In this edition the glossary is withdrawn from volume one and a table of contents is added, and four extra chapters dated 1844 are added to volume two. Original cloth a little rubbed, but sound. Contents a bit used, with some dirty thumb marks, but still an acceptable pair.

Simpkin, Marshall, 1849, first edition, pp. viii, 312. Original cloth, a trifle rubbed, small ink spot to spine, but a very good, sound copy. A scarce account of the formative years of this well known Radical.

Newton Abbot, David Charles,1968, pp.156,illustrated. The dust jacket has few marks and has been covered in sticky-back plastic to preserve it, the book is very good. With a presentation inscription signed by the two authors.

Saddleworth, 1975, first edition, landscape format, pp.63. Illustrated with 15 drawings and a map by Geldart. Original spiral binding with glossy, flexible, illustrated covers. SIGNED by both the author and the illustrator. Very good, clean and bright condition.

Manchester,Simms,1873, small 4to, pp.xxiv,165. Very good in the original green cloth. Not to be confused with the Chetham Society volumes of the same title which cover the period up to 1587.

Manchester,Chetham Society,1869, three volumes, small 4to,pp. xciii, (3), 550, frontis. to each volume. Couple of small dents in spine of part 3, but a very nice, bright set in the original cloth. Chetham Society, First series, Vols 78,79 and 80. Heavy, so may require extra postage abroad.

Warrington, Pearse, 1881, pp. 272. Large paper copy, number six of only eight copies printed on hand-made paper, signed by the publisher. Bookplate of W. Harry Rylands. original quarter leather. Unfotunately the front cover has suffered some rather odd damage as if a heavy weight has dropped on it leaving it slightly bent and with a groove running vertically up it. Still tight and sound. Photos on request.

Manchester,Chetham Society,1849, small 4to,pp.lxxviii,151,folding map. Volume 17, first series of the Society's publications. Original cloth, re-backed with the original backstrip laid down. Spine dull, blank verso of last leaf of index soiled, but a sound copy. Contains extracts relating to Warrington from a contemporary rent roll of the Legh family,with a lengthy introduction.

The Columbia University Press, New York, 1904, pp. 184, original wrappers bound in the back. Half morocco with marbled paper boards. Ex-library with label and a few unobtrusive stamps. binding a bit rubbed and dusty, a few dusty finger-marks inside, but a good, sound copy of the original edition.

London and Nottingham, not dated, but preface dated 1881, pp. 254, frontis. portrait of the author. Original decorative red cloth, spine dull, but good, sound condition. Crease in one leaf caused in the binding of the book.

Burnely 1946 to 1951. Four volumes covering up to 1400, 1400 to 1660, 1650 to 1850 and from 1850. Original red cloth. Spines a bit dull, with some fading and light signs of use, but a good, sound set. Overseas postage will be expensive so please enquire.
