A short tear in the edge of the rear cover, slight wrinkling to edges, essentially fine. Poems from The Martyrology Bo(o)ks 7(VII), the title taken from a review by Susan Musgrave. Uncommon.

Some shelf wear to the tips and edges, a very clean and attractive set in a handsome binding. This is copy CLXIX of 250 copies on Papier d'Arches; the entire edition was 3416 copies on a variety of papers. Original floral decorative wrappers bound in, design by Jean Boisseau. Decorations by M. Boris Grosser. Illustrations including 24 in colour by Adrien Bagarry. A heavy set which will incur additional postage costs. An anthology of curious tales by 18th century authors including Voltaire, Diderot, Pigault-Lebrun, Caylus, Cazotte, Marechal, others.

Philadelphia: Carey, 1807 [bound with] William Dimond: The Aethiop; or, The Child of the Desert. NY: D. Longworth, March - 1813. The five works bound in one volume, 12mo., full calf, the spine ruled and numbered (16) in gilt. Upper cover lacking, some old stains to lower corner, spine label missing, scattered foxing, internally very good. The American Longworth editions are uncommon.

Edinburgi (Edinburgh): Abernethy & Walker, 1810. First edition. . Original wrappers, sewn. Some edge wear and dust soiling to outer wraps, a very good complete copy. Inscribed on the verso of the final dedication leaf, "to James Hardie Esq. with the / Author's Compt. --". A dissertation on Jaundice.

Boston: L. Deming, [c.1835]. A broadside poem on a single leaf, measuring 17cm x 24.5cm. Wear and some slight perforation along old folds, a few small chips, very good condition. The first line is: "IN India liv'd a noble Lord,". This is one of numerous varieties of this broadside poem, one of at least two which were available from Deming in Boston. This copy bears the Hanover Street address, and is from ca.1835; another version exists which bears Deming's Market-Square address, and is from ca. 1829-31.

London: John Weale, 1854. New Edition.. Green blind-stamped flexible cloth, printed paper label on front cover. 224pp. Yellow coated end papers. Folding chart at pg. 82 ("Field Book"), and three plates at rear of which two are folding. Lacking the lower cover, early and late leaves detached, very good otherwise. The printed label suggests that this comprises "Vols. 60, 61" of a series published by John Weale.

anticat16. An autograph letter from Goldsborough Banyer to Mathew Vischer, a Counselor at Law in Albany, NY. Dated New York, 9th December 1785. 1 & 1/4 pages, closely written in black pen, with Banyar's flowery signature at the end. Concerning the claim to some land in New York State which was being made by a family in London. Twice folded, a piece torn away where the wax seal (still present) was attached (not affecting text). A bit of edge wear, but condition is very good, and entirely legible. Banyar was born in London, and first came to American in the 1730. He was appointed Deputy Auditor-General of New York in 1746, later he was Secretary of State under the colonial government. In his old age he moved to Albany, and died there in 1815 at the age of 91. His son, Goldsbrow Jr., was married to Maria Jay, the daughter of John Jay. His son died in 1806, but his daughter-in-law remained in Albany to care for Banyar until his death.

London: Robins, 1826. First edition.. 4to. Red half-calf, spine designed and lettered in gilt. Yellow coated end papers. All edges gilt. 12 plates by George Cruikshank. Calf rubbed at joints and edges, some offsetting of plates as usual, a clean very good copy. Some text leaves are misbound: pages 161-168 are bound in after page 176. The book is complete, with nothing missing. Unusually, the plates in this copy are not coloured. Laid in is a 6-page list of a Centenary exhibition of the Royal Naval College, published by Woodlands Art Gallery, 1973.

London: Greening, 1907. First edition.. Blue cloth designed and lettered in gilt. Foxing to some leaves, shelf wear and darkening to edges of cloth, generally about very good. The spine lettering is quite bright, as is the front cover.

[np/nd: The author, 1970s?]. 8.5 x 11 inch sheets, ringbound in a red leatherette binder, lettered in gilt on the front. Printed on rectos only. Some wear to corners, old stain to last few leaves, very good condition. This play, about George Washington at Valley Forge, was first staged in Midland, Texas, in 1976. It was published by Dramatics magazine in two issues devoted to Barrie and his work, in 1986.

There is an ownership signature on the title, a post-it marking a place, and some red pen marks in the margins of some leaves. This is a play set in 1937, in a village near Paris. There is no evidence that it was ever produced. This was sent by Stavis to an English Professor in Canada.

This play was first staged in 1947, and has been produced numerous times. This copy was sent by Stavis to an English Professor in Canada, though it is nowhere indicated on it.

This copy has been read and marked-up by someone with a brown marker. Some additions and notes that suggest it is possibly, but not likely an editorial copy ("20 Stories" added to contents page, etc.). Quite a lot of underlining, some marginal notes.

Wear to spine, some repair to front hinge, ownership inscriptions on front fly leaf, generally very good otherwise. Originally published by Nash in 1907. One the spine of this 1922 edition, in small type, is: Revised Edition. A short novel in which babies can communicate with each other in the wordless language of the 'Herebefore' without speaking, before they forget it and learn human language. As always with Pain, a lot of fun. A scarce book in any edition. The front cover design is by Mabel Lucy Attwell.

A collection of 45 short stories, many fantastic, including 'The Wrong Elixir'. Tymn: Horror Literature: 3-197. The first edition was published in London by Mills & Boon in 1912.

Small ownership sticker of collector John Ruyle on inner front cover, a bit of darkening to edges, but a nice bright copy, quite attractive. A collection of comical short parodies and sketches, several with fantastic and supernatural content. The British edition appeared from Cassell in 1892.
