Albuquerque, NM, 1925. Three letters, each on a different style of letterhead, written in Baca's capacity as the attorney for various parties. In one letter, Baca requests the current status of a case; in another he requests a correction to a decree sent to one of his clients, and in the third he writes in requesting information about a case that was supposedly set for trial on the day he received the notice. In two of the cases, Baca appears to represent Hispanic New Mexicans. Baca was something of a folk hero in his native New Mexico, known for his participation in a gunfight in Reserve, New Mexico, in which he killed two men. Soon after he was made sheriff of Socorro County, New Mexico; he studied law and became a lawyer. While serving as an official representative of the Mexican government during the revolution, Baca was charged with conspiracy for helping arrange the escape of a Mexican general from the Albuquerque jail (he was acquitted). Barker's letter is friendly, offering updates on the publication of the Books of Blood and Damnation Game and an unnamed screenplay going into production (probably Underworld). As with the 1986 version, this collection contains 10 previously unpublished preliminary works made by Barks before starting work on full-fledged oil paintings. These images vary in size, from roughly 7 by 9 inches to 12 by 15 inches. These paintings were done between 1983 and 1988 and feature Uncle Scrooge and other Donald Duck relatives. Each lithograph print is numbered and initialed by Barks. There is a matching certificate of authenticity with the same number and a full Carl Barks signature. The paper portfolio measures roughly 15 by 17-1/2 inches and is printed with the title in metallic red ink. All ten lithographs are fine, initialed, and numbered by Barks as 450/500.
