Lothrop Publishing Company, Boston, 1900 Bacheller (1859-1950) was an American newpaper editor, author, and owner of the first news syndicate in the US. His syndicate was able to introduce the writings of British authors like Doyle, Conrad, and Kipling to American readers. The sale item was the author's most popular book. Originally published July 1900 and four additional printings in that year, the last on September 25, 1900. Fine except for the previous owner's name on front free end page. Red cloth binding with gold lettering on front board and spine. Gold gilt on upper edge of page block and rough cut on outer and lower edge. Binding is tight and square with no flaws other than the name. 432 pages.

His first novel, Carrie from 1974, carried his own name and was followed by a title featuring Bachman. By 2007, four or five Bachman titles had been published along with all the King titles.
