A purple War Srvices stamp on the title page, and a longer one on the front free endpaper. Light wear to the spine tips, edges and corners. Still gives a good appearance. Illustrated with eight full page Woodburytype plates. .

This card dates from about 1930 and was distributed by the New York Schools system as a teaching aid for various subjects. The obverse tells the story, and the reverse gives explanations for the teacher and suggestions on activates for the classroom related to the story.

Illustrated with twenty-one colored plates by Cruikshank, along with twenty-two vignettes of wood engraving. Signed by Charles Mills and John M. Carroll on the limitation page. In addition, there is a long inscription from Carroll on the front free endpaper dated 1983. .

Oxford: Emberlin and Son, 1907. Stiff card wraps. Fine. The Letter-Writing pamphlet is 4 by 3". 39pp. Publisher's ads appear on pages 36-39, and the last page is blank. Even though the reverse of the title page states "First Published 1890", this is clearly published about 1907 as the list of Lewis Carrolls' ends with "Feeding the MInd". See Crutch, 223d,(1). The stamp case bears the statement on the rear: "Invented by /[Cheshire cat smile] /Lewis Carroll/MDCCCLXXXIX". The case into which it slips is the second state with the publisher's imprint above the Cheshire cat. This is a very nice set with hardly any trace of wear and only normal signs of ageing. The outer envelope is not present. .

Finely printed on a hand press by Tom Leech with Bembo type on paper he and Lynn Sures made in ITaly using watermarks replicating marks used by Fabriano early in its history. The plates used to print Caruso's drawings were made by James Bourland. Sewn wraps. A fine sopy in a fine clamshell case. One of 100 copies; this is No. 26. .

Contemporary quarter leather, spine gilt, marbled ans embossed paper over boards, marbled endpapers and edges. Inner hinge and spine neatly mended, edges worn, else this is a very good copy. The scarce first printing of Castro's groundbreaking History of the Jews in Spain. A member of the Royal Academy, he was so impartial that he felt a need to remark on page 8: "Escribo esta historia sin pasion, ni artificio, como de cosas que nada me tocan. Ni soi judio, ni vengo de judaizantes" (I write this history dispassionately and without craft, as concerning things that do not touch me. I am not a Jew, nor am I of Jewish descent.) Unlike others who followed him, he condemned the Inquisition. His HIstory was translated into English in 1851 by Rev. Edward Kirwan, Cambridge. In Spanish. .

Eight full color prints by Castro Pacheco: La Siesta (1992), Los Músicos (1979), Los Amantes (1992), Mujeres Platicando (1992), Mujer en Rojo (1979), Mujer en Blanco (1990), Mujer Recargada (1985), and La Cinta (1992), Text (on rear cover) is in Spanish. Each print is signed in pencil by the artist. One of 500 numbered copies signed by Castro, of which this is No. 342. Fernando Castro Pacheco was a noted Mayan artist, and is especially remembered for the huge "murals" of Mayan history which adorn the walls of the Governor's Palace in Mérida, Yucatan. While this title was obviously published in 2000, it is housed in a publishers box dated 2013, the date of the artist's death. Folding map in Vol. I, and two full page maps in Vol. II. Errata slip present in Vol. I. Illustrated throughout. Even though the standard references call for 312 plates (based on the number of the final plate), Streeter notes (p. 1352) that there are in reality 308 plates plus the frontispiece. This copy has 307 plates, lacking plate 252, and not counting the plates that are intentionally lacking. First issue, with "Frederick" on p. 104. Cloth is well worn with hinge repairs and nearly perished paper labels; three endpapers have been replaced or reset; Vol. II lacks the rear free endpaper. Only a good set. .

Plain endpapers. A very good copy. Light rubbing to the calf, frontispiece and title page expertly and nearly invisibly inlaid in paper frames with no loss of text, two of the plates with fore-edges remargined; minor, mostly marginal, foxing and soiling within. Overall a very attractive copy in a lovely example of the binder's art. Laid in are two 19th century manuscript notes from the Rev. Samuel Martin Mayhew of St. Paul's Vicarage to a Mr. Hopkins discussing the volume and translation. .

Magnificently and uniformly bound by the Spanish master binder Antolin Palomino Alalla in full crimson morocco. The spines are in six compartments with raised bands, intricately tooled in gilt.
