Previous owner's name on first page. Otherwise, inside pages are clean and unmarked. A booklet of articles entitled "I Was Canada's Cancer Nurse", originally published in the seventies in the Bracebridge Examiner. Rene Caisse is known as the creator of an herbal support supplement for the immune system called "ESSIAC". Her formula was based on one used by the Objiway indigenous peoples of Canada. Caisse believed this formula was beneficial in treating cancer and other ailments and she distributed it through her clinic in Bracebridge. It was first concocted in 1922 and is still sold to this day. .

Both boards are quite dirty, with what appears to be wiping marks, particularly to the lower board. Inside the endpapers are foxed and discoloured and the rear free is partially detached. The title and inside pages have some soil with one leaf having a few tiny pin prick size punctures. A selection of twenty fables from Aesop as translated by Alfred C. Caldecott and illustrated in pen and ink by his brother Randolph Caldecott. Engraving by J.D. Cooper. The book has the bookplate on the front pastedown endpaper of Francis J. Shepherd, who was an professor of Anatomy and Emeritus Dean of Medicine at McGill University, and the former president of the Canadian Medical Association. .
