Blindstamped red cloth, gilt lettering on spine, 8vo, xvii, 339 pp. Callwell (1859-1928) served in the British Army during the Afghan War, commanded a mobile column during the Boer War, and was at the War Office from 1902-1909, when he retired. Called back to duty upon the outbreak of World War I, he again served at the War Office, led a munitions mission to Russia in 1916, and was allied supply advisor for the Ministry of Munitions from 1916 to 1918. This book is a record of the author's experiences during World War I. Clean, unmarked book, binding tight. Covers show light edge wear. Book condition VG. Uncommon American edition.
