Description:
Book in in Fine Condition. No internal Markings. Dust jacket has a small scuff on front cover with a very small hole in the jacket. Lord Cochrane was one of Britain's most celebrated and successful naval heroes whose radical politics and unrelenting complaints to the Navy Board regarding conditions of the common sailor and Prize Money he felt owed to him complicated his legacy. The sea novels of Frank Marryat, who sailed as a midshipman and lieutenant for Cochrane, and the Aubrey-Maturin stories of Patrick O'Brian, rely heavily on Cochrane's exploits and biography. A truly engaging and exciting tale for history lovers! Detailed maps of voyages and battles are included along with dozens of color and black and white paintings and portraits from the era.
