Three tales of murder: Is the murderer in 'The Cell,' a werewolf, or your common variety, serial killer? A prolific writer in numerous genres, and under numerous pseudonyms, David Case, long ignored/forgotten in the horror genre, is now, three years after his death, being exhumed to his rightful place. Thie was his first book. The first very scarce printing was UK, but even this American is difficult. Some dusting and foxing at top page edges, and traces on rear panel; two short 1/3" inch closed tears to d.j., and at foot of rear board. A very good copy in v.g.-, d.j.

Albuquerque,: Silver Scarob Press, 1973. [First Edition]. Twenty-two page essayabout 22,000 words, by Clark Ashton Smith's bibliographer and romantic poet in his own rite, Donald Sidney-Fryer. The essay declares CAS truly the last great romantic poet writing in traditional form, tracing an historic lineage from Edmund Spenser, through George Sterling. It's heavy going, but the author knows his history, and his subject, very well. Nicely signed and inscribed by the author. Published by NYCTALOPS'sHarry O. Morris under his Silver Scarob Press moniker. Staple-bound between heavy paper covers.

This early work consists of "Apology," a lengthy introduction to the poems: "Address to the Worms," Three Men in One Room," "Excuse in Autumn,"Oh Soul be Changed Into Little Water Drops," "Brookside Reverie," "Of Consolations Through Murder." The total edition printed was 185 copies, this is one of 15 copies, each containing an original manuscript leaf, laid-in. The manuscript leaf is taken from the poem,"Three Men in One Room." The book is signed by both the author, and artist Helen Kapp. It is also vellum-spine, bound, and the original onion skin d.j., is present, even though it was meant to be discarded upon purchase. Some wear to top-edge boards, else a very good copy. Rare.
