It has a short tear to the head of the spine and one to the head of the front panel - now both expertly repaired. A lovely, fresh, clean, tight near fine copy in very good jacket.

Dopter, L . n/a. n/a Type: n/a A beautiful small book with a deep purple velvet spine complete with a white metal or brass title block and brass border ends. TEXT IN ITALIAN. Original cream boards - very probably an early Victorian plastic. Each border has a brass surround. A hinged brass metal clip holds the two boards together - itself in the shape of a cross. An ornate cross in brass is pinned to the front board. Silk effect endpapers. A tissue guarded steel engraved frontispiece plate along with another one to the start of 'della penitenza' - both engraved in Paris as was the title page. The title page is a charming chromolithograph with Mary Magdalene (?) and one other woman now portrayed as saints - one carrying the cross and the other Jesus' crown of thorns. All edges gilt. The text supported by numerous colour illustrations by Hancke Verner. Gilt embossed title to the spine. The tail of the spine a little bumped and the spine faded. The wrapper has not been price-clipped. It is faded to the spine with some rubbing to the head of the spine and a little rub mark towards the tail of the spine. A slight stain to the head of the wrapper. A very good copy with good wrapper.

Du Bois, William Pene. 40pp. A super first edition copy of this classic childrens book by Roald Dahl. Colour pictorial hardboards and numerous b/w drawn illustrations throughout support the text. No inscriptions. Slight bumps to the head and tail of the spine and to the front edge of the front board. A little finger soiling to the margin of page 4, not affecting the text. Occasional slight thumbing. No wrapper. The book is very well preserved, being fresh and tight - especially so being a childrens book. A very good copy.

Illustrated with numerous line drawings and several b/w and colour photographic images throughout. Gilt embossed lettering to the spine. There are bumps to the head and tail of the spine and light bumps to two board corners. Clean and tight. Dust wrapper is not price clipped and has light fading to the spine of the wrapper and to the head of the front and rear panels of the wrapper. There are a couple of light indentation marks to the rear panel of the wrapper, with corresponding light indentation marks to the underlying board. Light creasing to the head and tail of the spine of the wrapper and slight creasing to the head of the wrapper. No loss. A very good copy. in a very good minus wrapper.
