Description:
Prague: n.p., 1930. Very good. Sepia photograph, 4 by 5½ inches, showing Vladimir Nemirovich-Denchenko in his study. The photograph is inscribed to Soviet actor Mikhail Zharov. There is a short inscription on the front, and a longer one on the reverse, where Danchenko praises the actor as a magician and wizard of the stage, inscribed as a remembrance of their meeting on April 17, 1930 in Prague. Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko (Russian: Владимир Иванович Немирович-Данченко; 23 December [1858 -1943), was a Russian and Soviet theatre director, writer, playwright, and producer. He founded the Moscow Art Theatre with his colleague, Konstantin Stanislavski, in 1898. Zharov (1899-1981) was a prolific stage and screen actor in Russia. A couple of surface scratches, one corner with a small loss, else this is a very good exemplar. .
