Description:
Boston, N.Y., Chicago and Dallas: Atkinson, Mentzer & Company, (1908). Bound in original tan cloth with dark forest green pictorial cover and titles, 16 mo., i-xiii, 14 - 137, iv pages. This little book has become a classic in the study of Arts and Crafts aesthetics. The discussions of what constitued a tasteful home reflecting simplicity and rebellion against Victorian excess, are admirably bold in nature. Nicely illustrated with line drawings and photographic images. The book enjoyed popularity when it was first written, reprinted shortly after it first appeared. It is now available in modern reproductions. This is a fine copy of the First Edition.

Description:
Fulham, England: Sand's End Pottery, (circa 1890). A rare and particularly handsome William De Morgan tile. Measuring 6" x 6", this tile has exceptional coloration and classic de Morgan aesthetic details divided into quadrants, with ornamental motifs of purple stylized flowers and lovely green foliage. (Please request scan) The design reflects the artist's commitment to the work of A.W.N. Pugin and Owen Jones. The bottom edge has some chipping with approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch loss. Upper left corner lightly chipped. Minimal expected and actually quite attractive crazing. A very satisfying example of a British art tile from an esteemed leaders of the Arts and Crafts movement in England.

Description:
New York Harcourt Brace 1934 First printing Original gray cloth over boards with red cover decorations and black lettering. Blind stamped into the back cover of this copy are the words "COMPLIMENTARY PROFESSIONAL COPY". We have not seen this before and would assume it was an early promotional copy or advance reading copy, quite scarce in either case. The binding has some wear to extremities and darkening especially to the spine. Front free endpaper excised. Despite faults an unusual and interesting copy. Hardcover Good

Description:
Boston, Massachusettes: Hale, Cushman and Flint, 1929. First edition 12mo, 7" x 4 1/4". Bound in original black cloth with paper spine label. Save for a owner's inscription, (name and date), on the front free endpaper, this is a fine copy in original pictorial dust wrapper which although chipped and soiled, is complete. The repeating pattern of a man hanging from a scaffold in silhouette is used on the endpapers and spine label. Published the year after the more common British first edition. Surely this small book, with its keenly provocative perspective on the subject of capital punishment, stirred the winds of controversy amongst an American public still struggling with this issue.
