London: James Ridgway, 1819. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. Tall 8vo. Unpaginated; comprises folia 351-435 inclusive, followed by notes and index to vols. 1 through 5. Contemporary half leather, spine titled and ruled in gilt, marbled paper boards and endpapers. The 48 folia are each accompanied by a handcolored illustration, many of which are folding. Although too early for New World orchids, there are still three species of orchid illustrated, as well as a camellia and a protea. The binding is rubbed at edges and hinges else is in very good condition the text block with its illustrations are in near fine condition.

London: David Nutt, 1897. Hardcover. Very good. Two volumes. The first, printed in 1894, is the supposed suppressed edition, bout in publisher's navy blue cloth, gilt titles on spine and upper board. Edges lightly worn else this is a very good copy. The second, printed in 1897, is the entirely new translation by Ellis, bound in cream colored buckram, gilt titles on spine and upper board. There is some offset to the free endpapers, possibly from some clippings, the buckram is age toned else this is also a very good copy. Both copies are illustrated throughout by Walter Crane. .

1859. Very good. To an unknown recipient, complaining of poor workmanship preventing the engines from attaining maximum speed. Ericsson invented numerous mechanical devices, including the screw propeller, a locomotive engine, and an armored ship with a revolving gun turret. The Monitor, built on this plan, involved the Merrimack in the first naval engagement between ironclad warships (1862). Framed and glazed, together with a contemporary engraved portrait of Ericsson as the Inventor of the Monitor.
