Bottom corners dinged and fading to spine ends. Previous owner's name to ffep. Unclipped jacket has a couple tears to top of front panel and one to bottom of rear with some wear mostly at corners and spine ends and fading to spine.

Blindstamped coophon on rear board. Some rubbing/wear to spine ends with a few spots of rubbing through to heel and nicks to head with tiny chip and loose flake. Pages tanned with lovely design motif to endpapers. Light foxing to same and first couple pages. Edge tears to Table of Contents and dedication pages where pages were attached. Clean with solid binding. Charming period publisher promotional postcard and advertisent pamphlet. Deckle edge. Scarce in Jacket which is unclipped(7s. 6d. net) with small chips at spine ends, corners and one to top of rear panel which also has 1/2 inch jagged tear with creasing. Some spotting and tanning(mostly at spine).

First Printing. In black cloth with illustration to front board with gilt that has faded. Gilt to type on faded spine rubbed off. Publisher's colophon blindstamped to rear cover. Spots rubbed through at corners with bump to bottom rear. Several spots each rubbed through to head and heel of spine with some chips and short tears. Small puncture to bottom of rear spine gutter and dent to spine. Some marks/spots to cloth of boards. Beautifully illustrated endpapers with period bookplate to front pastedown. A few chips to edges of ffep. Previous owner's name to page following ffep and some minimal splitting to top of front hinge at half-title page, but still solid. Rear hinge a little shaken with some splitting to top third at endpapers. Text block fairly clean with some tanning and some faint spots to page ends. In brand new high quality facsimile jacket.
