The book was basically intended to promote publicity and sales of Johnson's "miracle" Indian blood syrup. Framed as an autobiography, the narrative follows the capture, torture, assimilation, and eventual return to white civilization of the Eastmans. His poems are largely autobiographical in nature.

Sammelband containing the original papers on the special and general theories of relativity with a foreword by O. Blumenthal. It is in Minkowski's famous paper, Raum und Zeit (Space and time), that he proposes the concept of time as the fourth dimension and initiates a mathematical study that became the basis of the later development of the theory. Included here is the re-issue of that work by Einstein and Lorentz, with notes by A. Sommerfeld, published after Minkowski's untimely death, along with other papers by the two scientists whose works led to the abandonment of space and time as separate entities. Original printed and decorated boards, rebacked, new endpapers; boards worn and rubbed with minor tears, some leaves toned due to paper stock, but generally a good copy. First edition. This is the account of the 1867-1868 Pacific voyage by a Swedish officer on the HMS Zealous, which sailed up the coast of South America to Canada, with a side visit to the Hawaiian islands. Fascinating details of travel in Patagonia, Chile and Peru in South America, California, Pacific islands in Hawaii and Tahiti, and up to British Columbia are provided, though in Swedish. The plates, from photographs taken on the journey, illustrate Hawaii as well as the royal family, including Kamehameha IV and V, and the Tahitian monarch Queen Pomare. A significant work for the Pacific voyages enthusiast.

This was Elliot's first publication with his own illustrations. He includes in every plate a showy flower, usually in shades that further enhance the vividness of each page. Elliot was able to portray the pittas with a tropical exuberance and animation as they variously pursue a shiny beetle, recoil from a pink-and-black snake, or take wing after a fly.
