New York: Garden City, 1938 Assumed 1st of the deluxe edition with tan cloth covers and top edge stained brown, the book has light soiling and stains at the edges of the covers only, spine bottom lightly bumped, little or no shelf wear, very tight and square, inside cover pages foxed otherwise very clean. Dj: soiled, tears and a few small chips and a large chip to back cover top, still 97%+ complete.. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair.

Black Bookcloth with gold lettering(faded), spine faded and showing wear corners and spine ends. Inside is unread tightness and very clean and square with just minor age-toning to the ends of the pages. The book is short stories of the better authors up till 1947, like Willa Cather, Booth Tarkington, Margaret Ayer Barnes, Clarence Day, etc this book was bought to be with one of the other Authors to enhance the value of the other book or pay this price.

Selected Poems has on the Main Title Page has 7 lines of an inscription in blue ink By the Author and 1 is his signature. This is his Pulitzer Prize winner. It is nice, tight(unread) square. little dots on page ends.Only defects I see on, Ways of light(unsigned) are on the bottom of the boards, and rear dj. see photos.

These Strand copies are usually 1st editions and usually signed on the blank 2nd leaf and sealed for their collector's club. I have to guess because IT is stilled sealed to protect it. If you decide to open it and its not true, send it back because it will still look good in my collection.

INCLUDED IS A CUT SIGNATURE OF THE AUTHOR, WITH A SLIGHT BLUR, STILL A HARD SIGNATURE TO COME BY. Added is the paperback 5 volume set that covers the whole biography of Henry James.

This is a well made book, nice binding, bonded paper to last. The book is very very tight, and clean and square and heavy(reason for unusual price to help postage) pleas see photos for details. Spine is a shade sunned but very minor shelfwear. 2 sections American 1st part 709 pages, British 2nd half at 493 pages, There are a few page corners turned so someone has looked thru it, but you can not tell it otherwise. I guess if you wanted one English Poetry book this would be it. It has an index in both parts to help find that certain poem/poet. If you don't buy this one, buy one!

2 volume set,1956, G & D. 1st ed Reprint from 1947. vol 1 the American Iliad (as told by those who lived it), volume 2 the picture chronicle (of the events, leaders and battlefields of the war). Both books are VG or better, the slipcase is Good. A nice set see photos for details, Vol 2 has a couple of small blemishes/spots. The Slipcase has wear, but still held together nicely.

1938, signed main title page, her full name dated January 26, 1939. Previous owners name on 1st leaf and hard to see because of illustration(Maitland de Gogorza) same color ink. I do not see any defects but Near Fine in case I miss something. DJ: has minor chipping, light soiling, and 1 tear on the back bottom near spine, my fingernail got caught Oops. Price intact.

Atlanta: Darby Printing, 1954. small piece missing top spine,this book is inscribed by hugh park,and signed by Eric but he has included a drawing about Sid,which has an article taped inside about the McGaws of whom one is Sid,cute story in article.. Signed by Authors. First Edition. Good - Very Good. Illus. by Lou Erickson.

If you check others listed they say they are First Edition but none state they are Stated First Edition. Rest assured this one does just check the photos. Green cloth with orange lettering & designs. Previous owners name 1st leaf. Minor staining to the covers(might clean up ok) with very little fade, touch of shelfwear to the edges and top spine is beginning to fray. first edition stated,with 1 in printline. the only defects for the book- there are some smudges on the page ends,dj: none i can see. And in photo3 some spots in the cloth.

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. MAYBE A LITTLE BRUISING TO THE SPINE ENDS. This is one of the cheapest Pulitzer Prize Winners I have found in this condition. Snap them up.
Make sure the Dustjacket has a price because I have seen Book Club Editions with the same copyright page, make sure of the publisher as well.

If you collect Evan Hunter or Ed McBain or half a dozen other names that Salvatore Albert Lombino, used during his career that started with a bang with "The BlackBoard Jungle". Then this title should be in your collection. This book has nor defects other than minor shelfwear to book or DJ, its an excellent copy. No marks unread tightness and very square. A collectible to go in your collection.

This book is in a collection of Agee, but all books are for sale. priced higher here so find one cheaper so I don't have to find a better copy for more.
