First Edition Thus. the film edition (The Pride and the Passion) of this Forester classic, dustwrapper artwork shows a painted scene of the stars, Sophia Loren, Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant, VG+/Fine book in VG+ price-clipped d/w, a couple of light ink splashes on back panel, minor rubs, minor creases and tears, but still a decent copy.

First Edition Artwork. artwork labelled by the artist Janina Ede as "Exercise: illustrations African Queen" (C S Forester), pen and watercolour, comprising six full colour images on heavy paper mounted within two large sheets for display. The largest image is 7"x6.5" (17.8x16.5cms), the smallest 2.5"x3.5" (6.5x8cms). Janina Ede was born in 1937 and did much of her illustration work for Puffin.

First Edition. both volumes with original sky-blue cloth lettered white, not inscribed, VG+ bright tight copies, each in an unclipped d/w, both wrappers have been laminated, volume 1 has some shallow chipping at spine ends, only losing part of the "R" of Muller (please see images), with some edge tears and corner rubs, volume 2 is similar, but no loss of text from the shallow spine chips, a decent pair.
