Description:
No Date. One page, 8.5x11 Inches, signed, hand written from Edna Ferber to musician and composer Ethwell Idair (Eddy) Hanson (1893-1986) as follows in full: "To Eddy: No matter what happens to me - good or bad - it is so much velvet! Life can never utterly defeat a creative individual who is in Love with his work and effort, for life itself is the composer's or author's lover until death, fascinating, cruel, lavish, warm, cold, treacherous and constant - the more varied the pattern of moods, the richer the experience. I've learned to be grateful for each deep stab of pain and heartache of disappointment. Edna Ferber". At the bottom of the letter is a typed Shakespeare quotation. Hanson was from Waupaca, Wisconsin, attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and had a long successful career as a musician and composer. Letter clean with faint folds. Letter had been laid in a book "New Poetry Out Of Wisconsin" edited by August Derleth, with the inscription "Eddy Hanson from August Derleth, 1969"…
