The publisher was geographer to his Majesty & H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.. This map was published on June 4th, 1819, showing details from Upper Edmonton, to Mitcham, across from Chiswick to Upney. Map housed in marbled slipcase, with matching chemise. Gold label on side panel of slipcase, stating "Map of the Country Round London." Octavo, [6], 293pp. Patterned boards, title stamped in gilt on red cloth spine. Top edge gilt. Stated "First Printing" on copyright page. Solid text block, a touch of toning along hinges, a fine example. A few tears to acetate jacket with some loss. Limited edition of 250 copies, this being number 120. Signed by William Faulkner on the limitation page. William Faulkner (1897-1962) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recognized for A Fable in 1955 and The Reivers in 1963. The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, and Light in August were recognized by The Modern Library on their 1998 list of 100 Best English-language Novels of the 20th Century. Solid text block, faint foxing along top edge, lightly bumped corners, slight offsetting to endpapers. Previous ownership inscription on front free endpaper. In the publisher's dust jacket, $2.50 retail price on front flap, wear to corners, flap folds, and edges. Light sunning to spine. Dust jacket torn diagonally across front panel, reinforced with archival tape on verso. A nice example of a beloved novel by William Faulkner's brother.
