Utica is a unincorporated community in west-central Judith Basin County, Montana, United States. It is approximately 40 miles from Lewistown at the intersections of Pig Eye Road, Montana Route 239 (the "Utica highway"), and Montana Route 541. Yogo sapphires were found near Utica in the mid-1890s.

Judith River Ranger Station is near town. The town itself now consists only of a church and a museum, plus a few houses.

One of Utica's most famous local residents was the western painter C.M. Russell, who at the time was a young cowhand hired by a local rancher and gold miner named Jake Hoover. Russell stated that he learned most of his frontier skills from Hoover, and the two men remained lifelong friends. He featured Utica in the 1907 painting A Quiet Day In Utica, which was… Read More

They Only Make You Cry When They're Gone - A Collection of Vidalia Onion Recipes from Bland Farms by the Bland Familyprinted by Wimmer BrothersPlastic Comb binding: 94 pages6 x 9 inchesA Vidalia onion is one of several varieties of sweet onion grown in a production area defined by law of the U.S. state of Georgia since 1986 and the United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Varieties include the hybrid Yellow Granex, varieties of Granex parentage, and similar varieties as recommended by the Vidalia Onion Committee and approved by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The onions are named Vidalia because they were historically grown in the town of Vidalia, Georgia. The cultivation of Vidalia onions started in the early 1930s. The Granex and related varieties are sweeter than other onions, but the unusual sweetness of Vidalia onions is due to the low amount of sulfur in the soil in which Vidalia onions are grown. The Vidalia onion was named Georgia's official state vegetable in 1990.

Irvin: This interesting surname is of Anglo-Saxon, Scottish and Irish origin from the Middle English (1200 - 1500) given name "Irwyn, Erwyn, Erwyn, Everwyn", from the Old English pre 7th Century "Eoforwine", composed of the elements "eofor", wild boar, and "wine", friend. The second source is Scottish, and is locational from either Irvine in Strathclyde, or from Irving in Dumfriesshire. The placenames are derived from a Celtic river name, probably composed of elements cognate with the Welsh "ir, yr", green, fresh and "afon", water. The third source is Irish, and is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic "O' hEireamhoin", meaning descendant of Eireamhon", a personal name of uncertain origin. The modern surname can be found as Irvine, Irvin, Ervin(e), Urvine, Irving, Erving, Irwin(e) and Irwing. Among the recordings in Scotland are the christening of Thomas, son of Alexander Irvine, and… Read More

#: F2174
Paperback
4.2 x 7 inches, 274 pages

The story of Moses, who grew from orphan to adopted prince to leader of the oppressed people, is worthy of many retellings. In Moses, Fast breathes new life into the legendary story of the infant found among the reeds of the Nile. From Moses's adoption into the home of Pharaoh Ramses II, to his upbringing in Egypt's royal court, to his controversial support of monotheism and eventual leadership of a nation, Moses is a stunning look at the life of one of world history's most celebrated men.

A warm and intimate portrait of the quintessential humorist of an age – Jack Benny – by Irving A. Fein, Jack's personal manager, and with an introduction by George Burns. — When Americans heard the rasping strains of "Love in Bloom" and the first long-drawn-out, perfectly timed "Well!" they sat back and prepared to laugh at that dean of comedians Jack Benny. Now Irving Fein, Jack's friend for twenty-eight years, reaches behind the persona of "the world's worst violin player" and "the stingiest man in in show business" to write about Jack Benny the man: a gentle, generous, yet serious person who loved to make people laugh and who loved to laugh himself.

It's all here – the best anecdotes of a half century in show business, the enduring friendships with stars as well as everyday people, his long… Read More

Editor: Susan Feldmann
introduction by Susan Feldmann
published by Laurel/Dell #8314. copyright/first printing May 1965
Paperback
4.1 x 6.35 inches, 272 pages.

Creation and death, the wily trickster, wolves, magic, and passion -- these are part of a rich heritage of Native American mythology and folktales. From tribes that vanished long ago, as well as from great tribes like the Ojibwa and Zuni that proudly remain, here are the powerful ancient beliefs with which North American tribal societies bring order to the universe and understanding to the heart.
Susan Feldmann has assembled this introductory anthology of oral literature around themes that allow comparison of the many ways different tribes explained similar concepts. The result is a magnificent journey into the Native American cosmos and a chance for us to experience everything from the beginning of time to the passage through death with the first people of our land

The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum graces a hill — Persimmon Hill — in northeast Oklahoma City.
