Later tan half calf with gilt titles to spine., marbled boards. Internally clean, slight chip[ping to flyleaf, binding lightly rubbed to extremities, especially joints, spine sunned. Very good. A printing from the same year as the first edition. Gaboriau was a master of French detective fiction, eclipsed in English only by Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes' stories.

INSCRIBED by Baron von Falz-Fein, father of Ludmila, in blue ink to dedication page. Publishers green cloth, gilt title upper front board. Photographic yellow dust-jacket, not priced. Ownership inscription to front endpaper, minor marking to front board, Minor tear to upper spine of dust-jacket. Near fine. This story originally appeared in the Christmas 1953 issue of Sketch in London.

A very good copy without wrapper. An anthology of contributions from over 100 various contributors on the overlooked East African Campaign in the Second World War.

A couple of tiny marks; a lovely fine copy (not a remainder copy). Autographed by the late John Gardner to the title page in blue ink. A late Gardner 007, this is now one of the more elusive titles in the series.

A fine, seemingly unread copy of the book, in a crisp, fine wrapper, with some very light rubbing to rear panel. An excellent example. John Gardner's fourth 007 novel as official successor to Ian Fleming; Abandoning his 007 status, James Bond resigns from the service and heads for Monte Carlo, in search of a new role of honour. But he quickly finds himself embroiled with a computer wizard absconding from the Pentagon and a sinister mercenary army. Gilbert-Schøyen [305].

John" [the second name is not clear but very likely Diarmud, a popular Irish name - Gardner was a resident of the Irish Republic at the time of publication]. The author has signed for a second time in full, below his printed name, which he has crossed through. This copy is from the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), with his bookplate. Certified library binding of full blue vinyl over boards, lettered in silver along the spine, top edge yellow. With the illustrated dust-jacket priced at £14.99. Institutional marks to endpapers and copyright page as expected else a gently used copy showing light wear only. Unusual to find in a publisher's library binding - most are plain without titles. When an officer of the British Security Service is murdered in Switzerland, James Bond becomes involved in a deadly game of hide and seek. He follows a sinister shadow across the world, from Athens to Milan, Singapore, the USA and ultimately to EuroDisney. Publisher's hardcover in pictorial dust-wrapper showing the original price of $13.95, the other copy in a simple mock-up jacket of some vintage (likely contemporary) with a typographical design. Each book is autographed by John Gardner to the title page with his manuscript note 'Author's Copy'. Both are in near fine condition. The dummy jacket is a somewhat crude Xerox, possibly created by the author to identify a jacketless copy.
