Important collection of 43 original vintage photos of the Public School Gardening Movement in Queens, New York City, 1916-1920. The school gardening movement was a nationwide initiative to create gardens for children, peaking1900-1920. The movement integrated many aspects of Progressive Era urban reform, including education reform, tenement house work, and the transformation of the urban environment with Small Parks and City Beautiful. Unfolding in cities across the country, including Berkeley, Boston, Dayton, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago; it was directly influenced by the educational "nature-study" movement which advocated the study of the natural world, the growth of children's gardening programs in Europe and the development of the modern playground. Agreement between Garland's Kingsrow Enterprises and Concerts Incorporated for her to perform at the Denver Coliseum during her legendary 1961 tour. Beautifully signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint, "Judy Garland," and initialed three times throughout the text, "JG," to approve changes to the contract's terms. Comes with a large attractive portrait of Garland. In fine condition, with expected document wear. On April 23, 1961, Garland had appeared at Carnegie Hall in what was to become known as 'the greatest night in show business history'-the performance she signed on for here took place on September 20, 1961. A choice document from this high point later in her career.

Son of the famed abolitionist, Garrison Jr. continued in his father's footsteps as both an abolition and suffrage activist. In this letter, Garrison tells his female correspondent that he "will reserve that evening [December 29th] for Wellesley. I wish I could follow the anti-suffrage speaker and take up some of his points, for I am sure he will not attempt to meet mine." An important letter by a key women suffrage ally.

A printed record a speech made by Garrison in Portland, Oregon on October 20, 1881 for the Woman Suffrage Association of Oregon. Upper right edge uneven, but no text affected. Here, Garrison argues that "by inheritance and belief that human rights and responsibilities are not limited by the accident of sex" and his hope that Washington Territory "before the Territory was ready to be admitted as a State, the constitution would provide for equal Suffrage and thereby avoid the agitation its omission was sure to entail. The pamphlet reproduced a speech given by activist William Lloyd Garrison at a meeting of the Rhode Island Women Suffrage Association on October 15, 1896. The speech reflects on the history of women's suffrage movements in America, and looks toward the new century as a time for progress. The Woman's Journal was founded in 1870 by Lucy Stone, one of the preeminent women of the 19th century women's movement. Very good condition with small losses in bottom left corner and along bottom right edge. Pamphlet is clean and crisp with minimal toning. An interesting speech documenting the progress in women's rights and calling for universal suffrage. One of the most popular and best grossing foreign films of the 70's in America. This archive includes both the first movie and the sequel: eight 8" x 10" lobby cards, two 11 x 14" lobby cards from the second movie. This movie was very popular, and Hollywood remade the movie in 1996 with star studded actors including Robin Williams and Gene Hackman. Although the film is full of stereotypes, it centers upon shedding transgender characters in a positive light through comedy, and ultimately, humanity. There are many images of men in drag, wearing glamorous makeup, gowns, flamboyant hats, and more. All lobby cards vibrant and in very good condition.

The Gentleman's Magazine ran for around 200 years, and was one of the first and longest lasting periodical publications. This issue including news and opinions on British fleet military engagement against navy of France and Spain, including list of ships taken from France (one ship taken by captain from New York and one from Boston) Watson treaty on Electricity, news of North America, a register of the month's new publications, a calendar of forthcoming trade fairs, a summary of monthly events, vital statistics (births, deaths, marriages), preferment's, commodity prices. This copy was removed from a larger anthology but is tightly bound with clean pages. In very good condition overall.

Beautifully engraved uncancelld certificate from the German Reich issued in 1922. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of the Reich's eagle. This item has the printed signatures of various officials 5,000 Anleihe des Deutschen 1922 German Reich Mark Treasury Bond. This 1922 bond dates during the start of the extreme hyperinflation of German currency that made it crash in 1923, and The problem was that by the time you could cash the first one they weren't worth the paper they were printed on.The strategy that Germany had been using to pay war reparations was the mass printing of bank notes to buy foreign currency, which was then used to pay reparations, but this strategy greatly exacerbated the inflation of the paper mark. Since the mark was, by fall of 1922, practically worthless, these bond were used literally to heat the fireplace by holders during the hyperinflation episode in the Weimar Republic.
