A good first American edition of this Well's classic. A name has been lightly penciled onto the inside of the front cover and smudge marks on the upper left corner of the inside rear cover. Otherwise, book is in very good condition.

Limited First edition. No 970 of 1,500 copies printed. Text is entirely in French. 69 pages of text and 32 pages of photos of Congolese sculptures with descriptions. A rare book on Congolese art from colonial Belgium. It is ex. library. However, there are no references to its library origins on the textual and photograph pages. There are several "WITHDRAWN FROM THE LIBRARY" message stamped on the front endpapers and back cover. Also an inventory sticker on the front cover and a library card pocket pasted on the last endpaper. There is shelf wear, particularly along spine, and a good bit of age toning on covers and all pages, except those with photos. The photo pages (all b&w) are glossy and in excellent condition. Other than the age toning, the textual pages are clear and without tears or marks.

The book is like new. Assumed to be first edition published in 2002. However, date of publication not provided in book. Book contains hundreds of high quality color phots of Rockwood pottery. /Each item is described with date of fabrication, potters name, description of peice and auction price and date.

Rare first edition of of the second volume of this historical four volume set depicting london with hundresds of steel engravings and detailed commentary on each illustration.. The seeming leather cover boards and spine are in excellent condition considering the book's age. The gilt lettering and decorations on the spine on the front and back boards are still sharp.
The engravings, proteced with tissue pages, are in excellent condtion; however one - of the Hospital for Consumption and Chest Conditions- is loose. The top of about the last 20 pages of illustration are stained in the margins. The stain does not cover any part of the illustratios. The first 160 pages consist of steel engravings. These are followed by 160 pages of commentary.

Prior to the 1,300 pages of Chaucer's works there are xlvii pages on the following: introductory note; Chaucer's life; Chaucer's works, language and and verification and the text. Pages are pristine, without any marks or tears.
