It does not affect any text or images, and otherwise the book is a lovely addition to your essential London collection. As the author says in her first chapter: "Each man, they say, discovers his own London. I suppose there is no city boasts so many discoverers, nor any city loved for so many different reasons so logically sustained, nor any place to which visitors so various can claim kinship. London, in a sense, belongs to us all." (p17)

An early (1922) attempt at trying to understand the role of women in the colonial period in America, women until then largely ignored. The author made extensive use of diaries, letters, and other contemporary sources available to create an absorbing portrayal of women in both the northern and southern colonies. There is of course much more known today, but an informative and eye-opening read nonetheless.
