Description:
New York: Colorcraft, Inc, 1972. First Printing. Near Fine. First Printing. "This propaganda poster was issued by artists and writers united in protest against U.S. government policies under President Richard M. Nixon, who was elected in 1968. In 1972, Nixon ran for re-election, defeating the Democrat George McGovern. The Nixon campaign slogan was "Four More Years." This poster subverts the slogan, asking instead whether Americans really wanted four more years of Nixon presidency. Printed over Ron L. Haeberle's well-known and disturbing image of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, the message creates a stark association between controversial American foreign policy and savage brutality. The image supplies its own answer to the leading question, implying that four more years under Nixon's administration could lead to further violence and subjugation. Later in 1972, Nixon's Watergate scandal emerged, eventually forcing the President to resign." (V&A description) A very handsome copy of a remarkably strong… Read More

Description:
San Juan Capistrano, CA: Inkswine Press, 2021. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine.. Limited Edition. Hardcover. "Brecht's The Mask of Evil reveals beautifully the problem of being angry and hateful in this world: it's straining and a lot of effort - exactly what it looks and sounds like. Here it is interpreted with anxious typography, juxtaposed with calming organic wood textures." [artist statement] "Because I arrived at making books from being a printmaker I find myself to be a book artist rather than a book binder. As an artist I have chosen printmaking as my medium. I get excited about ink and paper. The textures, the subtle build-up of sheen in successive ink layers, the gentle dimensionality impressions leave on the sheet, the feel of the printing blocks, the sounds and scents - it's the whole mix. It is seductive, challenging, often surprising, and always exhilarating. Printmaking and book arts share the same birth mother. Artists books can beautifully showcase a suite of prints; types enrich… Read More
