The hardback first is truly scarce in fine condition, many of them having been taken into the library system for academic use. This copy is from the James Bond collection assembled by Jon Gilbert, with his pencilled ownership. A British secret service thriller featuring Ogle-Oxley, likened to James Bond. Presented to the James Bond film producer Harry Saltzman and his French-naturalised wife. Saltzman co-founded Danjaq, S.A. with Albert R. Broccoli in 1962, the parent company of Eon Productions being a holding company for James Bond screen rights. From the comprehensive Bond collection assembled by bibliographer Jon Gilbert (provenance supplied). Completed shortly before his death, this is the autobiography of one of Hollywood's best-loved film producers, the charismatic head of Eon, the production company responsible for the internationally-renowned James Bond film franchise. Respected co-author Donald Zec (1919-2021) wrote a popular showbiz column for the Daily Mirror. A close friend of the James Bond film producer, he was awarded an OBE for services to journalism in 1970. See Gilbert, p.636.

Includes a profile of Ian Fleming (p.7), working in Jamaica on his eleventh James Bond thriller 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', while filming was underway for 'Dr. No', just along the beach. An advert for his latest thriller 'The Spy Who Loved Me' appears on the opposite page. Upon Fleming's death in 1964 many articles and obituaries were published, but earlier profiles of the author are rather less common. Not in Gilbert. Ex-James Pickard, catalogue November 2012 (the bibliography was published in October).

Wartime biography of Commander Edward Preston "Teddy" Young, DSO, DSC & Bar, who was the first RNVR officer to command a submarine, and a survivor of the sunken sub HMS Umpire. Prior to the war, Young was graphic designer for Penguin Books, drawing the publisher's famous logo and devising the iconic colour schemes for their book genres.
