Complete instructions for the little artist". Lovely children's instructional art book, c. 1900. Clean and solidly VG in its wonderful decorative boards. Hinges barely starting but still perfectly strong. 12mo, oblong, hundreds of illustrations, a number of them nicely chromolithographed by the publisher, a few of them very neatly drawn in by a young artist in light crayon.

A very impressive example of the 1963-1966 1st English language editions, complete in 4 volumes and published out of Jerusalem. All 4 volumes tight and Near Fine and, save for a tiny name and date at Vol. I's front pastedown, internally immaculate, with no wiriting or markings of any kind. And in crisp, Near Fine dustjackets, with very light creasing along several of the panel edges. Uniform, thick octavos, over 2,000 pgs. all told, including hundreds of tables and maps and other illustrations. Additionally, 2 large fold-out maps at Vol. 1's rear pastedown. These 4 volumes, complete unto themselves, represent Vols. IV-VII in a larger set called "Mammals of U.S.S.R. and Adjacent Countries" and of course focus specifically on the "Rodents" in these regions.

Solid, tight and VG in its bevelled, russet boards, with bright, unrubbed gilt-titling at the front panel. Even fading to the spine, a bit of pencil (largely equations) at the margins. The 4 chapter headings: 1) "The Fundamental Laws of the Elasticity of Solids"; 2) "The Elastic Strength of Simple Hollow Cylinders"; 3) "The Elastic Strength of Composite Hollow Cylinders"; and 4) "Descriptions of the Methods Used in Laying Down the Lines of Elastic Strength, Pressure and Velocity in the VIII-inch B.L.R ( Breech Loading-Rifle)". Includes large fold-out chart at the rear pastedown as well.

London: Charles Letts and Co. Decorative Cloth. Collectible; Very Good. First Edition. Very attractive study on varnishes and fossil resins, c. 1890s. VG in its original pictorial cloth, with light, forgivable soiling to front and back panels. Quarto, 69 pgs. Beautiful floral endpapers and very nice illustrated flourishes thruout by James West.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran and Company, 1945. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. A solid copy of the 1945 stated 1st edition. Tight and VG (light offsetting at the pastedowns and endsheets) in a bright, price-intact, VG dustjacket, with light chipping along the panel edges, the tips and the spine ends. Still though, very presentable. Octavo, Foreword by Brigadier General Carlos P. Romulo.

Philadelphia: John Winston, 1914. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine. Charles Folkard. A very sharp copy of the 1914 1st thus, with the 12 gorgeous Charles Folkard tipped-in color illustrations. Folio, purple gilt pictorial cloth, light fading on edges and a few tiny marks on the endpapers, else Near Fine. The plates, on heavy stock, were printed on quality paper in London by Geo. Jones at the Sign of the Dolphin and each includes its original printed tissue-guard. A lavish, lovely picture book.

A solid copy to boot of the 1938 1st edition -- AND IN THE UNCOMMON PICTORIAL DUSTJACKET. Clean, tight and Near Fine in a bright, price-clipped, VG- example of the fragile dustjacket, with wear at the panel and fore-edges and chipping along the spine (with 2" paper loss at the crown). One other chip as well along the top-edge of the jacket's rear panel. Still though, attractive and very presentable --and uncommon as such. Quarto, six etchings and sixteen wash drawings by Ingri and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire.

Washington, D.C.: Will Inman, 1969. Kauri" 108, Will Inman's seminal, self-published (out of his East Village apartment) literary journal that spanned much of the 60's. THIS COPY WARMLY INSCRIBED BY WILL INMAN TO SAM SEIFFER, CO-EDITOR WITH D.A. LEVY OF A SHORT-LIVED (1967 ONLY) POETRY JOURNAL CALLED "CONGRESS". And this issue (108) is crisp, clean and Near Fine in its taped, light-blue card wrappers. And id quite scarce -- #35 of only 51 copies issued. Also includes a 2 pg. laid-in, mimeod article by Will Inman.
