Interesting in that this copy comes from the personal library of Madeleine L'engle, though bears no ownership markings of any kind. Very good in wraps with curling to rear bottom corner.

James Dickey's review of This Blessed Earth, inscribed by Hubbell to Herron attached to front pastedown else fine and clean internally. Jacket spine sunned else minimal wear. Intriguing copy of this posthumous collection from New York poet, John Hall Wheelock (1886-1978).  From the library of Ima Honaker Herron (1899-1997), important literary critic from Texas, and the first woman to gain professorship at Southern Methodist University in 1927.  Herron studied under American literature scholar and SMU professor, Jay B. Stitched into marbled Cockerell papers with red thread. Fine condition. Beautiful keepsake printed by Gloria Stuart for the Roxburghe - Zamorano fiesta in San Francisco, October 2000, and bound by Allwyn O'Mara.  Prints several fleurons designed by Saul Marks and procured by Stuart when Lillian Marks was "selling Plantin Press paraph ernalia [sic]." A stunning, large format keepsake which is quite scarce.  OCLC cites 3 holdings, 2 in California and 1 in Arizona.  .

Fine condition. A series of two love poems beautifully printed by Gloria Stuart for Ward Ritchie, shortly before his passing in January of 1996.  Of an unstated limitation, printed as a keepsake for the Zamorano-Roxburghe clubs.  A scarce piece of Stuart/Ritchie ephemera.

[Honolulu?], 1915. First edition. 21x12cm, 21pp. Stapled, card wrappers with territorial seal on front cover. Toning and soiling to wraps, few small indentations to front cover, slight vertical fold throughout. Very good. Includes lists of the members of the party, distinguished guests, committee assignments, and a detailed itinerary which included surfing, canoeing, school visits, a Pearl Harbor tour, volcanos, visiting the different islands, and more.   OCLC locates a single copy of the 1917 version of this pamphlet, but does not mention this 1915 publication.

Both catalogs illustrated throughout, in black and white, with product images. Books, board games, apparel, figurines, etc., all from the Cthulhu Mythos.

Former owner's annotations in pencil on both sides, with route from San Francisco to Providence traced neatly in green. Folding highway map of the US which includes inset map of "Washington, New York-Boston Section." Mileage table, text on the National Parks and the Transcontinental Tour, time zone map, and pictorial relief map on verso. Worldcat lists the date for this publication as 1931, but in the section on National Parks, the "new Trans-Mountain Highway," of Glacier National Park is mentioned, which was completed in 1933. An uncommon map.

Scarce pamphlet printing a memorandum by Dr. Zakir Hussain, then Vice-Chancellor at the Muslim University in Aligarh, and 13 other Muslim leaders stating the Indian Muslim position on the Kashmir dispute.   .

Near fine with some light wear along fold and cover slightly faded. Published by the Laramie Council of Industry, Chamber of Commerce, this pamphlet lists scenic attractions, resources, transit, agriculture, and many other opportunities one could hope for when moving to the area. Historic photos throughout including of the Snowy Range, The University of Wyoming, Masonic Hall, churches, and other landmarks. OCLC shows 2 holdings: Yale and the University of Wyoming.

San Jose: Dean Charles Ing, 1970. Bound manuscript copy. 4to, 89pp. Printed recto only, reproduced from typescript. The author's copy bound in blue cloth lettered in gilt. Near fine condition. Laid in is a marked-up, unsigned draft of a two-page letter from Ing to Dr. Magnus Ljung of the Goteborgs Universitet in Sweden. Bound manuscript copy of the American science fiction author, Dean Ing's (1931-2020) master's thesis from San Jose State University, department of Speech-Communication.  The laid in letter is heavily corrected and discusses Ing's research for his thesis, offering this copy for scanning in hopes that Dr. Ljung might use it for a citation or two in his own writing.  Ing would go on to receive a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon and reside in Ashland for the rest of his years.  In addition to his genre fiction, he wrote survivalist nonfiction articles including instructional writing on the manufacture of tools and avoidance of disease.  These themes were woven into his novels… Read More

Very good book with some fading to spine ends and soiling to boards. Jacket good with chipping and loss at spine ends and corners. Book from Grace Inglis detailing use of the Hindu Dasa of Dasha System of astrology for the timing of events.  Worldcat shows two editions, one published in 1973, and this one, which has stated on the copyright page "1st printed 1977."  Both are scarce with 5 holdings in OCLC.

V.p., 1903. 36 postcards, all completed in manuscript, generally very good or better with some wear and rounded corners. A fascinating assemblage of cards written by Pre-Castro intellectuals to a Maria de Serra (though a few are written to other women).  It is difficult to pin down de Serra, though we do know she was highly educated and very well-known and connected.  It makes sense to us that she is perhaps the Maria de Serra mentioned by William Wells Brown in his important work, The Rising Son, or, the Antecedents and advancement of the Colored Race, (1874).  On pg 260, Brown writes: "The free blacks in Cuba form an important element in her population, and these people are found in all the professions and trades.  ...one of the best young ladies' academies at present existing at Havana is personally conducted by an accomplished negro woman, Maria de Serra, to whom many a lady of high rank owes her social and intellectual accomplishments." Uncommon single issue of this periodical on irrigation, mining, and development in the western states.  Published in Denver, "the center and metropolis of the so-called 'Arid Region,' and the most beautiful and prosperous city in America," according to the publisher.  Articles on the fruit trade in California, water reports from the dry land states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, California, Washington, and Kansas, and others.   By this time, westerners were realizing the irrigation needed to further develop the land would require a large amount of capital, and started lobbying congress for aid.  This and other publications were meant to inform the public on such efforts, and further the cause.  In 1894, Congress… Read More
