The first item is a small format broadside, approximately 6" x 9.5", detailing a request by the citizens of Miami County, Ohio to form a colony for Indians in the Western United States and remove the Indians with their consent. The second item is the same size, but printed on both sides of the sheet. Both items are in near fine condition with light edgewear, but the second also has a crease at the lower left side. Neither have ever been bound. Uncommon items relating to the Miami Indians and their relations with the settler's in their area.

The rear panel of the dust jacket is glued to the front pastedown and the dust jacket flaps are glued to the rear endpapers. Front and rear hinges are starting and minor offsetting on the title-page. What distinguishes this copy is the author's presentation inscription, "for Mother and Dad with my love, Jeremy, May 24, 1945". Also laid into this copy are 1) a small bookmark stating, "For You Just to wish you a Happy Easter", 2) a leather bookmark stamped "JEREMY INGALLS", and 3) an eight-page pre-publication brochure in which Knopf quotes from a letter from Ingalls sent in with the finished manuscript of this book, which they state, provides "a unique view into the actual design of one of the most extraordinary literary achievements of our era.
