Two volumes, Slim 8vo., boards, 61pp. Each printed by Bradley, and with cover, frontis. and headpiece illustrations by him. Very nice copies, but each with losses to the spine label, and a break in the paper at the top of the spine of RIP and with its last page torn from rough opening, and both will small losses at the bottoms of the spines. Signed and inscribed copies are rare.

Light edge and corner wear, light soiling to the paste-on, a short, clean marginal tear to the frontispiece, not touching the image, else a very nice copy of this early Parrish work, now hard to find in collectible condition.

DeLuxe Edition, limited to 500 copies. 437pp. Profusely illustrated with wood-engravings by Richardson after works by numerous other artists. All of the plates, head & tail pieces etc, are mounted India-Proofs. Internally fine, with minor wear to extremities amd darkening of paper label on spine.

1828. Irving, Washington. A HISTORY OF THE LIFE AND VOYAGES OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS. Carvill, NY, 1828 (1st Ed). 3 vols, 8vo., old polished calf. VG but with some browning to pages. Map supplied from another edition and housed in a separate custom wallet. Irving (1783-1859), served in the U.S Embassy in Madrid from 1826 to 1829, during which time he became interested in Spain and published several works including the biography of Columbus. Irving was afforded access to Columbus documents by a descendant, the Duke of Veraguas, and his biography is readable and largely accurate, notwithstanding his adulation of Columbus.

An expanded edition was published in 1913 by Mitchell Kennerly; both are scarce, this first edition extremely so. A bit rubbed and darkened at spine, but still a Very Good copy.

Finely printed and in excellent condition.

A handwritten card, dated August 16, 1977 from Isherwood to Bruccoli respinding to a letter from Bruccoli regarding a screenplay for FitzGerald's "The Beautiful and the Damned" written by Isherwood and Don Bachardy. The text of the card reads as follows:"Dear Professor Bruccoli Thank you for your letter. Could you first tell me - have you read our Beautiful & Damned screenplay? What is the publishing arrangement? How much money are you prepared to pay? There are certain legal complications, and it is no use even investigating them until we know the answers to these questions.Cordially,Christopher Isherwood OVERIt would also be useful for us to know how you heard of the existence of this screenplay?
