Description:
Rotterdam: Nai Publishers, 2000. Hardcover. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. Hardcover. 4to. SCARCE. "The architecture and architectural culture of the Netherlands have been causing quite a stir in recent years: a great many remarkable new buildings and projects testify to the current flowering in Dutch architecture, urban planning, and landscaping that's so exciting to so many in and out of the field. Artificial Landscape illustrates the results of this late twentieth century surge of creativity and traces the background of its success, examining both the 'Dutch phenomenon' and its socio-historical context to find out what makes it work so well. What we find is that even in a period of globalization there is still such a thing as a Dutch 'climate, ' yet despite this culture's specific national character we have much to learn from it, particularly where its unique synthesis of architecture, urbanism, and landscaping is concerned. This exciting movement is represented by a selection of designs, built…

Description:
Oldham, England: Incline Press, 2015. Paperback. Fine. Paperback. Limited Edition of under 250 copies. Out of Print. Hans Fallada (1893-1947) was a famous German writer in the first half of the 20th century. His most significant work was the 1947 novel Every Man Dies Alone, written by Fallada in a feverish heat in only twenty-four days, dying just weeks before its publication. This Anti-fascist novel was based on a true story of a couple whose grief for their murdered son led them to launch a clandestine resistance campaign in Nazi Germany. In her new introduction for this translation, Jenny Wilson says that Fallada turned to writing for children in the 1930s when his novels came under scrutiny by Nazi authorities. Among his works for children was this charming and poignant story of young Tom and his beloved stuffed dog, Hoppelpoppel. This 21st New Year Book from the Press is printed in Sabon and Centaur types on Zerkall Paper. Frontispiece illustration by Jennie Malbon. Bound in pred paper wrappers…

Oldham, England: Incline Press, 2023. Softcover. Fine. Softcover. Number 44 of 175 copies signed and numbered by the printer Graham Moss. From the press website: "[This] is a book that is both a memorial and celebration of the life of librarian, bibliophile and printer Kathy Whalen. Written by her partner and co-publisher Graham Moss of Incline Press, the book is presented in a joyous and moving series of 50 double page spreads in the style of a commonplace book. Each opening shows a letterpress text opposite a sheet of tip-ins, colourful prints and artworks. The book charts both the home and professional times of Kathy's life during this 21 year collaboration with Graham....Written with open-hearted frankness, the book reminds us that we must all die, and so too bemindful to live as we should." The letterpress text recounting Kathy's life was written by Graham in a generally chronological manner. At the end of each page he provides the typographical information about the items found on the facing…

Description:
Oldham, England: Incline Press, 2023. Hardcover. Fine. Hardcover. Number 4 of 130 bound copies signed by the poet. Born in Liverpool, Jamie is a poet and translator based in Oxford. He has published seven collections of poetry. His poetry has won numerous awards including the Forward Poetry Prize, the Hawthornden Prize, and the Cholmondeley Award, and his books have been nominated for the Whitbread Award and twice for the T. S. Eliot prize and the Forward Prize. Jamie's poetry pays minute attention to the details of the natural world and of human history, mixing formal pleasure with a disquieting humor. This new collection plays with traditional ideas concerning wise men and rich gifts - the price of wisdom and the ambiguity of gifts, for both the giver and receiver. Myrrh, the gift brought by Balthazar, for example, is associated in the Bible both with the anointing of kings and with death. The poems delve into the contemporary - as in a lockdown binge-watched TV series about Australian…
