Description:
United Kingdom: Airlife Pub Ltd, 2004. New book, 96 pages, 69 photos, 17 colour profiles. In the first three years of Word War Two, the word Stuka became synonymous with terror. Across the face of Europe, troops and civilians alike quailed under the banshee wail of the Junkers 87 dive bomber as it plummeted towards its target. By 1943 the Stuka's day as a dive bomber was virtually over but it came into its own as a tank buster on the Russian front, where it fought to the bitter end. This book tells the story of the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka, the units that operated it in its many campaigns, and the men who flew it into combat.. Soft Cover. As New. Illus. by Windle, Dave. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Description:
Osceola, Wisconsin, U.S.A.: Zenith Press, 2004. New book, 302 pages. In Vietnam, Forward Air Controllers (FAC's) flew low and slow, searching for signs of an illusive enemy. Often they trolled themselves out as bait for the NVA troops to try to shoot down. When a friendly unit made contact, having a FAC overhead made the ground troops day, because the FAC's controlled the bomb, rocket, and napalm laden "fast movers" - fighter jets and attack aircraft whose ordinance made the difference between life and death. In addition to the perils of enemy fire which ranged from AK-47 shots to .51 caliber michineguns and SA-7 shoulder fired missiles, they had to avoid being blown up in B-52 Arc-Light strike or friendly artilley barages. This was Mike Jacksons life for 366 days. In spring 1972 he hugged the DMZ, fighting back against the massive NVA attack that became known as the Easter Offensive. He was also part of the around the clock team of FAC's who managed the rescue of BAT-21,…

Description:
Annapolis, Maryland, U.S.A.: Naval Inst Pr, 2004. New book, 408 pages, slight shelf wear to cover. This contraversial book was first published in 1817 in response to the exaggerated and false accounts then circulating in America and Britain regarding the apparent recent successes of the United States Navy over the Royal Navy in supposedly equal combats. William James applied himself to assembling the facts and proved that, despite the 'powder puff' history of American writers - 'no American ship of war has, after all, captured a British ship of war, of the same force; but that the reverse has occured, and might have occured again, and again, had the Americans been willing to fight, as they are still to boast.' The distinguished naval historian Andrew Lambert here presents this key text whole with a new introduction, while the appendices, which contain a wealth of correspondence and eyewitness accounts of the many famous actions of the ware, are reproduced in full. Description:
Harper Collins, 2005. New book, 175 pages. In this book, Lisa Jardine explores the historical ramifications of the first assassinations of a head of state with a hand gun. The shooting of Prince William of Orange in the hallway of his Delft residence in July 1584 by a French Catholic - the second attempt on his life - had immediate political consequences: it was a serious setback for the Protestant cause in the Netherlands, as it forces fought for independence from the Catholic rule of the Habsburg empite. But, as Jardine brilliantly illustrates, its implications for those in positions of power were even more far reaching, as the assassination brutally and irrevocably heralded the arrival of a lethal new threat to the security of nations: a weapon that could be concealed and used to deadly effect at point-blank range.. London, United Kingdom: MacMillan, 2004. New book, 186 pages. Roosevelts presidency was one of the most eventful in US history. He took office in the midst of economic crisis: the stock market had crashed, the banking system had collapsed and millions of Americans were unemployed. Galvanising the nation with his 1933 inaugural address, Roosevelt demonstrated an optimism and resolve that garnered huge support for the programmes that he called the New Deal. When he died some twelve years later, on the eve of victory in WW2, he had overseen an incomparable mobilisation of American industrial effort, might and will power. Description:
Philedition, 2015. New book. 34 pages. After the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbour the Pacific based squadrons of RNZAF began to receive modern US warplanes. Under the command of Squadron Leader T.J. McLean de Lange, No.25 Squadron was created on 31 July 1943, as the RNZAFs sole SBD Dauntless dive bomber squadron. In March 1944, No.25 began operations on Guadalcanal; objective Rabaul. In eight weeks 530 sorties were flown for the loss of only five aircraft. However, due to the outdated nature of the Dauntless, the Squadron was disbanded at the end of May and surviving pilots transferred to RNZAF Corsair squadrons. Unlike most RNZAF squadrons, each Dauntless was allocated to an individual crew, so most sported large personal markings of which most have been represented in this short book. No.5 in the Allied Wings series is 36 pages long and richly illustrated of 30 photos plus 12 colour profiles.. Soft Cover. As New. Illus. by Laird, Malcolm. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
