Delhi: D.P.B. Publications, 2017. First Edition. Hardcover. Small, thick quarto (7.5 x 9.5 inches). Limited to 200 copies. 868pp. Pictorial boards (issued without dust jacket). Text in English and Sanskrit, with transliterations. Some b&w illustrations. Typical Indian production values. Some edge and corner wear to boards, a couple of dings to book edges at top and bottom. A very good copy. This is a most remarkable work, being a textbook of worship for the Dasamahavidya (the ten tantric transofrmations of the Great Goddess). The Mahavidyas are: Kali, Tara, Sodasi, Bhuvanesvari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Matangi, Bagala, and Kamala. This massive work includes ritual procedures for all ten goddesses, with mantras, yantras, modes of worship, and much more. Description:
New castle, DE: Oak Knoll Books, 2008. Second Printing (with corrections). Hardcover. Short folio (9.5 x 12 inches). xiii, 378 pp. Signed on the title page by Kevin Johnson. Black cloth with gilt spine titles. Full page color images of books in dust jackets throughout. A near fine copy in like jacket. The literary origins of the American film noir cycle are more convoluted than a plot contrived by Raymond Chandler after a too-long night at Musso and Frank. Kevin Johnson has paired his obsessions with film and literature to illuminate even the murkiest connections. Identifying every 1940s American film noir with a published literary source, The Dark Page provides concise but fact-filled accounts of the authors, books and filmmakers that came together-often in unlikely combinations-to create a unique and cherished period in film history. Tapping the wells of film historians, cinemanistas, rare booksellers, collectors and librarians around the world, Johnson has compiled an unprecedented dossier of… Read More

London: George Johnson, 1925. First Edition. Stapled wrappers (4.25 x 5.5 inches). 32 pp. With b&w illustrations. Some fading to edges. Very good. Jardine Ellis was a master of what is known to Conjurers as “close quarter work.” The majority of his effects were designed to puzzle the single onlooker, and in this particular class of Magical deception he was a past master. Ellis was quite secretive about his effects but once stated "when I am gone it does not matter what becomes of them.” So, here are explanations of 12 of his deceptions.

Description:
New York: Hippocampus Press, 2010. First Edition. Hardcover. Large octavo. Two Volumes. 1148 total pages. Bound in black cloth with silver spine titles. In original pictorial dust jackets. Illustrated with b&w photographs and illustrations. A near fine set in like dust jackets. Note: Photos show some camera glare from the mylar dust jacket covers. S. T. Joshi s award-winning biography H. P. Lovecraft: A Life (1996) provided the most detailed portrait of the life, work, and thought of the dreamer from Providence ever published. But that edition was in fact abridged from Joshi's original manuscript, and this expanded and updated edition restores the 150,000 words that Joshi omitted and, in addition, updates the texts with new findings from Lovecraft research since Joshi's original biography was issued. This is a monumental work and will remain until the end of time, the most definitive work on Lovecraft's life.
