Description:
This has to be an extremely rare first edition of this important historical archive. We have not found another edition of this book prior to 1880. The pages are readable and the illustrations in good condition. There is moderate foxing on most of the pages and moderate yellowing on a few of the pages. There is what appears to be light to heavy water stains on many of the pages. There does not appear to be any missing pages or tears on any of the pages . Front page wrinkled engraving of Pres. Lincoln has separated from the binding as has the covers. The cloth over board covers are heavily worn. However, the gold leaf work on the spine and the title on the spine are still visible despite some tears and separation along the spine.. The remaining pages appear to be tightly bound. On the last textual page and the last fly-leaf page there is an upside down stamp of the Southern Book Exchange of Hagerstown, Md. We are still in the process of pricing the book and searching for another existing first…
