Description:
Gainsville FL: University of Florida Press, 1976. Reprint. . Hardcover. Very Good+. VG+/0/reprint. A good solid copy printed for the Bicentennial Floridiana Facsimile Series. The Sketches of St. Augustine was originally published in 1848 by Rufus King Sewall who was the minister of the local Presbyterian Church. Sewall and a prominent merchant from St. Augustine decided to write a tourist promotion book about St. Augustine, with Sewall responsible for the writing. Sewall little book also managed to slur the Hispanic population, but had little effect on Florida's religious or ethnic preceptions; shortly before the first publication of this book, Florida elected a Jewish Senator, and few years later, a Roman Catholic Senator. Book is 69 pages with a rather long General Editor's Preface, a rather long introduction with notes, and a 12 page index. Book is clean…

New York, New York: Twayne Publishers, 1958. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good +. F/VG+/1st ed. The Battle of Atlanta was important for both the North and the South after three years of violent confrontation: the Federals saw a boost in morale and confidence and Lincoln won the 1864 election. The Confederates saw devastation and defeat come to the Deep South. Much of the material in this book appeared as a series of stories of the Georgia Campaign in the Atlanta Journal- Constitution. This is a short conciste history of the battle and surrounding events. 92 pages, with period photos throughout and an index. Book is clean and bright with no wear, and jacket is price clipped and has a tiny amount of shelf wear at the bottom of the spine. Excellent even color and covered with a removable myar sleeve.
