First Edition. Un-numbered pages show 63 of Amen's works, four of which are full page color plates. It seems to have been a pamphlet with a red cover that has been covered again with a very high quality black cloth over hard board cover with a gilded title. Most interesting is that The title page, which precedes the presumed red pamphlet cover, is on heavy artist type paper and has the feel of an actual woodcut( see photo). We are not aware of any other hard cover version of this work. It includes a preface by artist and curator Jacob Kainen and a short biography of Amen by Walter Fox (Encyclopedia American)The book would be in fine/as new condition if it were not for the stamps on the second title page (first "pamphlet title page) of the Catholic University Art Dept. It also has some very slight shelf wear at the bottom of the cover spine.

The book is in 'as new' condition except for miniscule shelf wear at cover edges and initials at the top of the first fly-leaf page. 18 un-numbered pages followed by 403 numbered pages, beginning with page 327 - starting from where volume 1 ended. First Edition. Presumed first printing as no other printing or edition dates are give on the publication page. Book is in excellent, almost like new, condition. Only fault we could find is light shelf wear at the top and bottom of the spine. No dj.

The Covers have miniscule wear at the corners, noticable wear at the spine edges and white spotting along the cover edges. Light toning/shadowing on the inside covers. Tight binding. Condition faults: There are remands of some writing on the first flyleaf page - it appears to have been largely erased but still barely visible; there is miniscule wear at the top and bottom of the spine. The dj (enclosed in a Plasti-Kleer cover) is clipped at the top front flap edge and a very small book seller's sticker in the same area, also miniscule wear both ends of the dj spine. Covers and spine show much fading and some soiling - more pronounced on the front cover. Inside covers, especially the back inside cover and adjacent fly-leaf page. The bottom area of the spine and adjacent area of the back cover are stained. The deckled pages are clean, clear and without marks or tears. Binding is tight. No dj.

Appears to be a later printing of the first edition. Both the ex-library book and the unclipped dj would be in 'like new' condition except for the following: There is a stamped library name and address near the bottom of the first title page, "discarded item" stamped near the bottom of the last endpaper, what appears to be a catalogue number sticker attached to the bottom of the dj spine and an inventory sticker or publishers sticker attached near the top of the back cover dj. The dj is encased in a transparent a plasti-kleer cover that shows some scruffing on the back (on the plasti-kleer cover not the dj). Unfortunately the mylar jacket has been taped on the book at four points: at the top and bottom of the front and back dj flaps. There are no other indications of it's library affiliations.
