The copy is crudely backed (probably by Sassoon as he was always 'adapting' his books). It includes a typescript copy of a poem by Kendall signed and dated July 1961. The book itself is also inscribed to Sassoon from Kendall. Katherine Kendall (1883-1966) was best known as a violinist and leader of the Kendall String Quartet. She began to express herself in her later years through the medium of poetry.The book carries the Sotheby's Sassoon monogram as provenance. She campaigned against the Soviet control of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary as the chairman of the League for European Freedom in Britain from 1945. Mayer Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem. This was the culmination of a longstanding philanthropic commitment to Jewish life in what would become the State of Israel. Wealthy enough to ignore the gendered norms that governed international Jewish activism, Vera Salomons chose through her philanthropy to remember those dear to her: L.A.
