Later titles are all first editions, early titles are mostly later impressions. A complete (?) set of her solo published works. Margery Lawrence is perhaps best known for her supernatural pieces and in particular her short story "The Haunted Saucepan," which was published in 1929 and became a popular radio play in the 1940s. Her work also explored the themes of female identity and the challenges faced by women in a patriarchal society. The 39 books are each numbered by ML, though her numbering has gone awry as #28 is numbered twice and her first book, Songs of Childhood is unnumbered, thus Residence Afresh is numbered 37th, but is actually 39th. Part of the Novocastrian Novels (Novocastrian meaning the people of Newcastle). From a contemporary review: In this book we are hurried breathlessly from one chapter of thrilling interest to another. The subject is not a pleasant one, *'The murder of a woman on the out-skirts of Brussels" furnishing the plot, which is well conceived, and worked up with power and skill. Anyone proposing to try detective work as a profession might find in the book some useful hints, and moreover might emulate the Belgian detective M.
