Quelques rousseurs: first 200 pages of text in excellent state, then 100 pages yellowed, followed by the remainder with scattered generally mild foxing throughout. 564 pages. Titre et filets dorés sur le dos: five raised bands and gilt lettering, the spine is in exceptionally fine state but the boards have rubbed edges and the corners are rubbed through. Relié demi-cuir. 10 x 16.3 cm

Librairie Classique Eugene Belin, 1885. Hardcover. Good/No DJ as Issued. The book has issues but handles well. For instance, the fading of the boards that often occurs with these titles is rather even and discrete. Aside from the title page there is almost no foxing. The binding is strong despite a split in back pastedown. The text is yellowed but it is even and mild.

Hachette, 1888. Hardcover. Acceptable. Edition rare de 1888, 232 pages, text is unmarked except for table of contents and some student doodlings on back of boards. Text is heavily foxed in first and last few pages with random light foxing inbetween; inkwell stains on five pages. Printed text on boards are legible even though they are well worn and rubbed through on edges. Binding intact but very fragile from cracks/splits.

Text is yellowed and beginning to fox, already noticeable in beginning and end. Boards considerably and unevenly faded, splits in bot pastedowns, in sum just a reading or reference copy.

Interior is foxed in first and last ten pages with the majority of the text immaculate though evenly yellowed.

Separation gap and 2 cm tear in head of spine. Binding cracked at half title page but still solid. Text is lightly and uniformly yellowed, pages have one or two ripples (lays flat and square), engravings look great and text crisp nonetheless.
