Set of ten imaginative color aquatints in the Art Nouveau style, depicting various erotic scenes from the playfully fanciful to the grotesque. One of 20 copies on Japan within the larger edition of 110, each plate signed by the artist in pencil with the pseudonym "Remigius Eques" and numbered 12/20. This issue containing the plate "L'Hésitation aux portes du Temple" instead of "L'Amour Astronome," which is found in a variant issue. Boston: Printed by White and Adams, next Door to the Cromwell's-Head Tavern, in School-Street, 1779. 8vo (24 cm). 24 pp. A heartfelt sermon by John Lathrop, pastor of the Second Church in Boston, on the occasion of his wife's death expressing admiration of her character and thoughts of resurrection and heaven. "The hope which the scriptures afford us, that our pious friends, who have fallen into the sleep of death are now happy, and at the general resurrection shall be raised from the confinement of the grave, and be made compleatly blessed forever, is excellently suited to alleviate our sorrow, and reconcile us to that providence which calls us to part with them." Lathrop was known for his discourse "Innocent Blood Crying to God from the Street of Boston" delivered the day after the Boston Massacre. REFERENCES: Evans 16316. CONDITION: half-title leaf detached, light foxing, 5 cm closed tear on p. 18, several leaves with wide margins trimmed off.

CONDITION: Good, small losses at head and foot of spine, rubbed, early gift inscription on flyleaf, occasional foxing, a mostly clean and sound copy.

A pleasing collection of poems about experiences at the Poland Spring Resort, a classic grand hotel and health spa in Maine, home of Poland Spring water. The bill head is from the Poland Spring Company of Pennsylvania; on the verso are editing notes in pencil from an unidentified source. CONDITION: Very good, slight wear at cover, clean and bright leaves.
