One sheet, six paragraph, typed letter signed, dated January 2, 1941 on embossed City of New York Office of the Mayor letter head in which Mayor La Guardia replies to someone representing another New Yorker who was denied housing by the Housing Authority. With absolute clarity, La Guardia explains why the subject did not qualify and recommends some low-rent options. A real time piece in that it exemplifies old-fashioned constituent service and how the buck stops at the mayor's deak., Ah, the good ole'days! Included is a 4 page pamphlet reproducing remarks by Judge Hubert Delany on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of La Guardia's death. La Guardia (1882 - 1947) served as the 99th Mayor of New York City from 1934 to 1945. His popularity endures: what other mayor has both an airport and a Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical named after him?

Binding unsigned. Limited to 130 sets for subscribers only, this set numbered 177 in all volumes. Volume 1 notes that this set was printed for A. Jaekel, with his name artistically painted in water color on the limitation page. Frontispieces are mezzotints by S. Arlent-Edwards, with printed tissue guards, in each volume, 62 plates in all. Near fine set, untrimmed sides a bit tanned/ browned. Internals fine. Covers quite nice, a few very minor abrasions here and there.

Beautifully preserved Art& Crafts-designed production of the Arabian tales. Small 8vo, light green cloth, boldly-stamped titles in darker green and blue front covers w/ more and gilt to spine. Brangwyn's full page illustrations are in duotone, but the real graphic wallop is in the cover design and extra title page design, which we suspect is attributable to an artist, whom we cannot identify, other than Brangwyn. A wonderful period piece. A collectible set - no names, inscriptions or bookplates and desirable thus.

This is likely an extract from the 10 volume edition of The works of Mr. Francis Beaumont, and Mr. John Fletcher, printed in London by Jacob Tonson in 1711, edited by Gerald Langbaine. engraved frontispiece, [2], 311-393, [1]. Pages darkly toned, rebound half calf over marblized boards, gilt title spine, probably mid-19thC. Front cover detached.
