Folio (16 1/2 x 15"); in the publisher's black quarter morocco binding over cloth with titling in gilt to the upper board, and black calf labels to the spine; 71 pages, followed by 44 chromolithographic plates printed on textured paper; some of the plates have quite small remnants of tissue guard where the tissue adhered to the chromo; a couple of plates are lacking the tissue guards; all of the plates have vivid and attractive color; the binding is a bit shaken, with the hinge cracked between the front endpaper and the first blank leaf; the binding is holding well however, and all of the stubbed in plates are well attached, even those which are lacking their tissue guard; the front joint is separating for the bottom inch or two but, again, is holding.~~This is the first of what was to be two volumes, each volume with plates by artist Henry Alexander Ogden; Ogden originally had planned American Army uniforms from 1890 to 1906. ("Our pledge is--I hereby solemnly promise, God helping me, to abstain from all distilled, fermented and malt liquors, including wine , beer and cider, as a beverage..."~~A challenged copy, of a very uncommon cookery book. We are unable to locate any institutional copies. Good binding.

First printed in 1899 by Doubleday [Wright III, 3518], this issued the following year. Of this printing, we find a single holding on OCLC. Bound in quarter black morocco over black cloth, with some wear at the joints. The paper has yellowed and is a bit brittle. There is a previous owner blindstamp on the first blank leaf. (Wright III 3518). Very Good binding.

An original drawing by three time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Jeff MacNelly. This large scale caricature -- it measures 33" x 24" -- of Nixon's Vice-President Spiro Agnew is signed by MacNelly and dated ‘73, the year Agnew resigned from office. This drawing is from relatively early in MacNelly's career, though he has already won one of his Pulitzers the year before. On brown paper, which has a 2" closed tear not affecting the drawing.

Very Good binding. 4to, in speckled calf with a patch to the upper board; decorations in compartments with morocco label; lacking the engraved title; [26]. 702, [22] with last leaf blank.~~The first printing of the Jesuit historian Louis Maimbourg's account of the Greek schism -- that is the Great Schism of 1054 which broke the Christian church into the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Churches. ~~The title page has an engraved rondel of two"Cicognes" or storks. Each of the six chapters has a handsome engraved headpiece, and an engraved capital letter, as does the Dedication page "Au Roy". There are tailpieces as well. Altogether, a handsome binding, which presents well. A small gift inscription penned to the top of the endpaper. Very Good binding.
