Originally published in 1962 in paperback in the U.S. This is an uncorrected proof copy of the English edition which, when published, was the first hardback of this title. Very good in green printed wraps. The only early Hale proof we have ever handled. Rare.

One corner lightly creased, touch of faint foxing to page fore edges, still a bright, fine copy in bright, fine dust jacket.

Indianapolis: Bobbs- Merril Co., (1913). First edition. Color illustrations by Andre Castaigne and black-and-white illustrations by Arthur William Brown. MacGrath's 8th mystery, the basis for the 1921 silent film "Not Guilty." Fine, bright copy with just a hint of soiling on top edge; in bright, good or better, full wrap-around illustrated dust jacket (including flaps) with chipping on edges not affecting any lettering, and closed tear evident on spine which has been backed with clear archival tape.

Parisiis: Typis Pauli Bousrez, 1899, 1900, 1902. Three volumes. Written in Latin. Commentaries on the Trinity, the Word Incarnate, etc. All three volumes finely bound in quarter green morocco with matching green pebble-cloth boards; marbled endpapers; spines with raised bands and gilt-decorated panels and lettering. Only the barest wear and otherwise fine.

Posthumous collection of 14 novellas and short stories including "The Great God Pan" and "The Bowman." 8vo red textured-paper boards lettered in black on spine; "Printed in Great Britain"-stamp on copyright page; pale gray dust jacket printed in red. Crisp and near fine in very good or better dust jacket with corners nicked, old tape shadow at top front corner, and a creasing along top edge rear panel. From the collection of sports writer Paul "Dr. Z" Zimmerman with his penciled notations on rear endpaper and one on contents page next to final story, "The Terror," reading "Animals rise to destroy man." Scarce.
