Good in Good+ protected jacket. Clean bright covers, most pages clean-a few marks including closed edges, some page corners creased, and two pages have fold made during printing (but text is clearly legible). Two small owner or bookshop stamps (Karachi). Wear to jacket edges with small corner losses, larger loss top spine, some fade to spine.

London: Charles Westerton, 1867 Fourth edition. Hardcover book . Original brown cloth with gilt titles to spine and blind stamped decorations to front, back and spine ends, bound by Westley's of London xii, 437pp. Edited and with a preface (dated 1857) by W.F.P Napier after Sir Charles Napier's death. Charles Napier had been sent to India to command the British forces, and this text is a detailed attack on the way that India was ruled by the East India Company and Lord Dalhousie, with much on the discontent of the sepoys or native troops (which led to the mutiny in 1857). With no illustrations apart from a few tiny diagrams in text near end. Note that various books on the Mutiny and Indian history are available from David Ford Books, listed individually. Good condition overall . The contents are generally very good, with clean pages with browned closed edges and some small rucks/creases to fore-edges. Dark blue cloth over bevelled boards, with gilt title and decorative motif to spine and ship's wheel motif to front. xiv, 256pp, 8pp. With 400 illustrations in plates, mostly good quality line engravings, a few coloured plates of flags etc. Recased with original cloth laid down and new endpapers. Some light rubbing to boards and spine. A few pages have browned and repaired edges, a few handling marks to margins. A Very Good copy.. Pictures available.

Small stains to a couple of pages, otherwise clean and bright; neat name to title page. Jacket has lightly rubbed edges with small chips, and light handling marks. A Very Good copy in still Very Good dust jacket.

Red cloth covers, gilt to spine, red speckled page edges. 1.5cm square of cloth removed from spine towards base. Light rubbing to ends. Fep has been pasted to front pastedown and previous owner pencilled a line or two. Edges of half title heavily tanned. Previous owner's label to reverse of title page has caused some rippling and owner has also pencilled page numbers against the list of illustrations. General light tanning to all pages but otherwise clean. A Good+ copy.

London, The Sun Engraving Company Ltd, 1920 Paper covers, An illustrated calendar with illustrations by Paul and John Nash and Rupert Lee.One illustration (woodcut) per month with poetry on facing page by such poets as Blake,Sitwell,Herrick, Whitman,Thomas and Huxley. An early example of Nash's work and needless to say a scarce one, Yellow paper covers. A Very Good copy. The month of may has a couple of ink smudges to calendar and there is a 1" tear closed to top of facing page not affecting text but just creeping into John Nash illustration for June.

Brussels: Nels, c.1919 Book Album of postcards, probably published in 1919. Yellow card wrappers, stapled, title stamped in blue to front, with embosed cartouche of ruined church. 10pp. Consists of two monochrome photo postcards per page, showing buildings and views in Ypres before and after the First World War. Each card has perforated edges to enable it to be detached, and tissue guards. Text on cards in French and English. Very Good: all cards present, clean and bright. Wrappers have slight darkening to margins, a few marks, and rusting from staples showing throughas dark patches (cards not affected). Pictures available.
