This is likely from the set of 22 unpublished drypoints printed by Charles White in 1952 and publsihed by Kurt Valentin in an edition of 50. If any lifetime impressions of any of the drypoints exist, they are extremely rare. In excellent condition.

Some tape residue at the edges, verso, else in excellent condition, with the colors fresh and vivid.The view is of the buildings along sutton Place as seen from the East River, and of the skyline beyond. Neufeld, who moved to NYC in 1945 was known as "The Artist Laureate of the East River. There was an exhibition of his work at the South Street Seaport Museum in 1975.

A working proof, with unique hand-drawing and hand-coloring, aside from the edition of 20, unsigned. 14 1/8 x 20 5/8 inches, 355 x 523 mm, (plate), plus full margins. The plate was executed at Atelier 17, and a few proofs were printed there by Nevelson. These proofs are very scarce. The formal edition was printed at the Hollander Graphic Workshop by Emiliano Sironi. In very good condition. FramedProvenance: Albert Argentieri, New Jersey, friend of the artist; thence by descent, private collection, New Jersey. During the 1950s and 1960s, Argentieri, a photographer and artist, lived near Louise Nevelson and her assistant, Ted Haseltine, who was aclose friend of Argentieri. He photographed Nevelson and her work, along with Haseltine, collected the wooden pieces from abandoned buildings and other locations which Nevelson used to create her sculptural assemblages.
