The spine cover is gone, but the signatures are all present, and the paper and material that is glued over the signatures is still present. There is no break in the hinges or gutters. All pages are present, including the 2 Jack B. Yeats illustrations. There is a slight tanning to pages, but no foxing. Front free endpaper has a shadow from a laid in. Very clean. This facsimile reprint of the scarce 1899 edition is still in the original plastic casing. A pristine copy from the Morningside Book Shop Press. Senator Opie saw a lot of action in the Civil War( especially around Virginia) and served with the best of the best in the Confederate Army. He was also imprisoned in Elmira Prison Camp in New York, near the end of the war. An entertaining account of the war, and often amusing. 336 pages, many b&w illiustrations. Book is pristine.

There is also a line of script on the front free endpaper:"From Mother and Daddy 1933." The interior is clean and the pages are white, no marking or writing.
